Hello Distinguish ladies and gentlemen, song lovers and the entire community.
This very week has really been all about music for me! I've been listening 🎧 to great music and I must convey that I've been spending much time listening to musics than ever before. So today i decided to take part in the "Sing the Song Challenge" organized by @bossj23. For my cover, the song "Love You from a Distance" by Ashley Kutcher,, was selected as instructed by the host. it's a song that carries very deep emotions and great meaningful lyrics. I happily posted my performance on my handle account Dhi'z Basil TV on YouTube.

• What can you say about the choice of song? Does it ring a bell? [Drop link to video]

"Love You from a Distance" is an amazing song that instantly rings a bell for anyone at all who has experienced the pain of truly loving someone they can no longer be with due to circumstances. The lyrics of this song truly speak about loving someone deeply but having to let them go for the sake of healing as i sees.

  • Because loving someone from a distance doesn't mean a distance relationship but letting them go for peace to reign though still feeling something strong but what's necessary to be done at the right time must be done. The melody is so soft and really touching to me, making it a demand song for expressing emotions through music anytime.

• What challenges did you encounter trying to sing this song and how did you overcome it?

Singing this very song was not an easy one for me at all. I encountered several challenges to get this far:

  • First Understanding the lyrics: To me, Ashley Kutcher's pronunciation and the phonetic style made it so difficult for me to grasp some words correctly until I saw the song lyrics words to words though still pondering how she rap those sentence in a second. I did well to listen repeatedly while looking at the lyrics to know it's truly what she's pronouncing.

  • Getting the right tone and tempo: Here comes another big blow to my face. The song really has a unique rhythm that do requires careful timing. So Matching the exact tone and flow was a huge struggle. I had to make repeated trials to conquer some errors in wrong toning and tempo.

  • My voice alignment: This indeed was my biggest nightmare and challenge! At the very first, my voice did not match the song’s energy and tone at all. I had tried multiple times and almost gave up "saying this one is not for me ouh". But then, I had reminded myself that giving up is never and will never be an option in my dictionary. I then kept practicing until I finally got something presentable at least.

• What effect does this song and lyrics have on you? Were you emotional as you sang the song ?

This very song is so filled with deep emotions. As I sang, I felt in me a strong connection to the lyrics that I almost cry 😢 but no I'm a man, so I can't cry right!!!.

  • It sincerely brought back those memories of painful experiences and really made me to reflect on times when I also had to love someone from a distance after every turns together. It was necessary for my mind to rest and seek peace in something else. Though I know that the song is not just about heartbreak; it is certainly about healing, acceptance, and then moving forward.
Conclusion

Participating in this kind of challenge sincerely was an incredible experience. i have never done something like this before but this really tested my patience, resilience, and love for music. Even though I did faced difficulties, I fortunately pushed through and completed my cover. So this experience really taught me that persistence and true practice always lead to huge improvement.

Music is certainly a powerful tool that do allows us to express the feelings mere spoken words alone cannot capture. I am so glad I took on this very challenge, and I anticipate forward to exploring more of musical opportunities in the future!

I invite strong vocalists like @nsijoro, @goodybest and @pea07 to check out my perfomance.

MODs Comment/Recommendation:
Thanks for bringing up your participation in this contest. The natural way you sing is what I enjoyed listening to. You didn't stress yourself in getting notes and pitch. You were just yourself but a little suggestion, sing as if you want to get a scholarship for doing so next time 😁. Best of luck
