Tell us about your city ? What makes it special?

My City (Nigeria) is a country located in West Africa, which is often referred to as the Giant of Africa because of how populated it is, it economy and how influential it is in terms of culture.

Things that makes my city (Nigeria) special are:

1. Diversity: Nigeria has over 200 ethnic groups, and it comprises of more than 500 languages. The three major ethnic groups in my city are Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba.

2. Influence in Africa: Nigeria plays a very vital role in the economical and political affairs of Africa. Nigeria is a key member of Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS).

3. Natural Resources: It has numerous natural resources such as limestone, gas among others. Nigeria is also known as the major oil producer in Africa and beyond.

4. Culture and entertainment: Nigerians are known so well for their entrepreneurial spirit and creativity. Their film and music industry, Afrobeat and Nollywood are world famous.

Nigeria as a city have a lot of traditions, foods and hidden gems that people who live outside the country might not really be aware of.

Local traditions:
We have the Durbar festival which is celebrated by the hausa-fulani people in celebration of Eid and in honor of Emir.

We also have the Osun-Osogbo Festival: it is a cultural and spiritual festival that is carried on in osogbo by the Yoruba's.

And lastly,, we have the New Yam Festival: It is celebrated in the Sourthestern parts of Nigeria by the Igbo's.

Traditional Foods:
Some of the famous traditional foods in my city (Nigeria) includes,,, Afang soup/ Edikang, puff-puff, Egusi soup, Nigeria jollof rice, suya, Akara, etc. This are some of the traditional foods we have in Nigeria.

Hidden Gems:
Some of the hidden gems we have in Nigeria are;
Yankari Game Rserve located at Bauchi State, Indanre Hills located at Indo State, Ogbunike Caves located at Anambra State, Awhum Waterfall and Cave located at Enugu State, and Kano City Walls located at Kano State etc.

If someone visits your city, what 3 places must they see?

If someone visits my city, the three places they must see are:

Abuja which is known for its lovely Parks and green spaces such as the central parks, millennium park etc.

Calabar: This is a city that is rich in heritage and celebrations. Places you can visit in Calabar include; Cross River National Park, Slave History Museum etc.

And lastly, Lagos which is one of the biggest and most famous city in Nigeria. Places you can visit in Lagos are landmark beach and Tarkwa Bay etc.
