Guide to Publishing and Pinning Posts on Steem Atlas - Part 1

Hello everyone!

Today I am here to explore the features of Steem Atlas and to provide you a guide to publish your post accurately while pinning it at the current location. So first of all before diving deep I want to tell you about Steem Atlas. This is a map powered by the Steem Blockchain where you can add the places through the posts on the steem blockchain.

If you visit any valuable and worth seeing place that needs to published to guide the people then you can use Steem Atlas to pin your guide as a post at that correct location. What you will get for pinning that post at Steem Atlas will be discussed at the end of the post.

How to Pin/Publish at Steem Atlas

There are currently two ways to add your post to the Stem Atlas:

• Directly Publishing through Steem Atlas
• Indirectly from steemit.com

Direct Publishing Method

• Go to https://steematlas.com/

• Click on Create Post.

You will see a small pop up which will prompt you two options:

• Click on the map to place pin
• Use current location

Click on the map

You can zoom in to the map to find the specific place to pin your post at that place. As an example if I want to pin my post at the place Shahi Masjid then I will zoom in towards that location to choose that for my pin location.

After selecting create post I have zoom in to the Shahi Masjid which is situated in Depalpur. As soon as we select the pin location it gives us a prompt to add the description pin.

While adding the pin description add place name and the city name such as Shahi Masjid, Depalpur. Do not add irrelevant text or complete title of your post as the pin description.

Then you can start writing your post. You can add the title and ion the body you can add the details of your post. For the ease of the user there are ready made some markdown styles such as to make your text heading, add image, adding link and more. Then you can give the tags. You have the ability to choose the type of the rewards you want to receive for your content such as setting power up.

Then you have to enter your steem username. If you want to add beneficiary then you can easily add beneficiary. You have to enter the username and the percentage of the payout which you want to share with that account. Then at the end share your posting key in the input field and click on Publish Post. In this way your post will be published.

Use current location

If you are at the place which you want to add to the Steem Atlas then simply choose use your current location and the map will automatically bring you to your current location which makes it easy to pin your post at the right location. In my opinion it is the most easy way except to zoom in and to find the exact place.

The rest of the process is same to add the description and to add all the details of the post as explained in the above section.

How to Verify your Pin

To avoid problems while pinning your post at the wrong location you can easily verify your pin location before publishing. It will make your post and pin more valuable. You can use desktop and mobile to verify your pin.

You need to open Google Maps and search for the specific location where you want to pin your post. In the desktop version you need to explore the URL of the location and find the longitude and latitude values of that place.

Here you can see that I have found the latitude and longitude values for The University of Okara as I want to pin my post at this place. Now we need to compare these values with the Steem Atlas latitude and longitude code.

Now we need to zoom in Steem Atlas to get the code from the place to pin the post. If our values of latitude and longitude matches then it is the confirmation that our pin is at the right place. steematlas 30.86710131 lat 73.56734276 long is the code from Steem Atlas which is matching with the Google maps values. So we have confirmed that our pin is at the right place.

Now if we have mobile then for the confirmation and to get the coordinate values from the Google maps is a little different because in the mobile there is no URL bar. So to get the values we need hold on the relevant place and the coordinates will appear in the search bar. So we can get coordinates from mobile in this simple way and can compare them with Steem Atlas.

Pin and Earn

When you publish your post while pinning it at the correct place at Steem Atlas then the Atlas Ambassadors check the location of your pin and verify it. The developer of Steem Atlas @pennsif then checks the post for the curation. Moreover the steemit moderators also check the quality posts and rewards the users with the generous upvotes.
