🥟What is your favorite street food and where is it usually found?

---

When I find myself on the street, I love to eat empanadas. Since before the big food industries invaded the whole world with their quick and easy-to-prepare products, empanadas could be found anywhere in our country. Nowadays, it continues to be one of the best options when it comes to mitigate the urgencies of the stomach; that is why there is a proliferation of places where tasty empanadas are sold, both within towns and cities and along the land routes that keep the national territory connected.

In the most remote and humble place in Venezuela, as well as in the most luxurious shopping mall, we will always find a sale of this food to delight us with its variety of flavors. The empanada has had the virtue of remaining attached to tradition and adapting, at the same time, to the variations imposed by the evolution of the culinary art.

🥟What ingredients are used to prepare it?

To prepare the empanada you need a dough made with corn flour, oil to fry it once it is finished and the respective filling, for which there are endless options. In fact, this small pie can be filled with any kind of cheese and all the products that can be previously cooked. We can, then, savor fish, seafood, meat, chicken, grains combined with their respective protein and everything that emerges from the creativity of the people who are dedicated to the sale of this delicious delicacy. That conjugation of the thin dough with a filling that matches its texture and flavor once the empanada is fried provides us with a magnificent experience in each bite.

🥟What makes this street food special to you, and how often do you eat it?

A good empanada should be made, as I pointed out above, with a thin dough, which remains crispy after it has been fried; and a good quality filling, when it is a sausage, or an exquisite flavor in case it is a food that needs to be cooked beforehand. The most interesting thing about this food, on the other hand, is that it gives us different options; we can enjoy, for example, a complex elaboration where the most delicate protein is present or we can opt for a simple grated cheese and even for any humble canned food that we find suitable to fill the empanada.

This versatility makes it, for me, very special, since it adapts to the whimsical tastes of children and adults. Almost always, especially at breakfast time, I want to eat an empanada. But since I know that it is not convenient to eat the same dish every day, I try to eat this traditional pie at least once a week.

🥟Would you recommend it to others? Why or why not?

As I mentioned in previous lines, the great variety of options regarding what empanadas have inside, makes it an ideal food for people of any age. From the experience I have with my children, I know that children and teenagers love to eat the ones with cheese, ham or some other sausage that catches their attention; while adults, as they are supposed to have more experienced palates, crave for more elaborate fillings and daring combinations. For these reasons and all those I have explained in previous paragraphs, I would recommend empanadas to any human being who is willing to enjoy a magnificent food.
