1 Picture 1 Story Week #80
Steem greetings @everyone from the motherland Cameroon and welcome to my blog as I participate in the contest 1 picture 1 story.
The FIFA World Cup qualifiers are ongoing and Cameroon is not left out from the teams clamouring to qualify for the World Cup. Our last game against Eswatini in South Africa on the 18th of March 2025 was not a good one to record. The fans, players and technical bench of the team were not proud of the results but gave excuses to justify their loss. Before the match against Eswatini, Caneroon was top of their group with 8 points, followed by Cape Verde with 7 points.
After the draw with Eswatini, Cameroon lost her top position to Cape Verde as they were able to win their game and top the group with 10 points. Today's game was very important for Cameroon to win, against Lybia. The mentality of everyone was to win!! Win!! Win!!.
The first 30 minutes of the game were entertaining as Cameroon tried all possible means to press on the Lybians. Due to the pressure on Lybia by Cameroon, a fault was committed by the Lybians in the goal area box and Cameroon was awarded a penalty for faulty play. The penalty kick was taken by the captain Vincent Abubakar aka “the dark invader” Though his performance was not that good he scored goals for the team to secure their win over Lybia.
The second half of the game was tense as Lybia was struggling to bounce back and mounted pressure on Cameroon. These actions led to a faulty play with numerous yellow cards as punishment to both teams. Lybia continued to pressure the boys of Marck Brys and scored a lone goal.
The game ended in favour of Cameroon with a score of 3:1. It was a joyful game as Cameroon grabbed 3 points to move to 12 points in total. Though they won the game they still remained second in their group and Cape Verde topped the group with 13 points. Cameroon’s next game will be against Cape Verde in September 2025.
