Steemit Learning Challenge-S21W5; Plantar Fasciitis"
It's another week to talk about Plantar Fasciitis, there was a time i had injury on my hands i couldn't lift my hands up, I wished it could happen to other part of my body since i uses my hands to do numerous work, do you know when it happened to another part of my body i realized that all the body parts are important . How do we stand well without the heel and foot. There's need to take care of this part of the body and you find out what Plantar Fasciitis is all about in this post.
What's Plantar Fasciitis? Write in your own words after getting knowledge from the lesson post.
This is the disease that affects the thick band that connects through the heel to the toe, it can affect both men and women, but it can be common among the women because of wearing too much high heels or standing too much.
The pain of Plantar Fasciitis can be severe when waking up in the more and increases when standing for a long time.
Symptoms
Consistent Aching at the heel and toe
Difficulty in standing after seating for a long time
Reddish patches to heal back
Causes.
The causes of this sickness can be traced to the following
- Much pressure on the thick band of the heel to the toes.
- Running too much
- Over weight
- Standing too much.
- Age
How would you diagnose a plantar fasciitis? Any clinical investigation or assessment tests?
It is advisable to always talk to a professional when having any health challenge. To diagnose a plantar fasciitis the health care provider will physically access the patient to know exactly what is the cause. Knowing the history of the patient and possibly running some text to actualize the Case.
- Physical examination: The health care provider will look out for where the pain is emanating from by touching the Plantar Fasciitis where is connected to the heel bone. The can also ask the patient where the symptoms are coming from.
- X-ray. This is another test that should be conducted to know the exact place where inflammation or spur is located.
Try to practice at least 3 exercises that you have learned from the lesson. Share images, gifs or videos while practising.
Ball Rolling
I did this exercise with Orange as an alternative. I was rolling the ball under my foot from the heel to toe. I'm sure this exercise is helpful for Plantar Fasciitis.
Heel Raises
This is done by lifting the heel to the the toe holding something like chair for a balance. This exercise is good for the calf and strengthening of the muscles .
Toe curl Exercise
This exercise is done by lifting the toes for sometimes and bring it down slowly. This helps the feet and toes for athletic programs.
Share your review after performing these exercises either on yourself, healthy individual or patient.
I did all these exercises on myself hence there's no other person to give the report other than me.
When I was doing these exercises I realized that I need to do them frequently. When I was rolling the ball under my feet I felt some sensation that gave me some relive from the heel muscles.
The toe curl Exercise was another easy one that strengthened my toes .
All these exercises are just friendly, and I comfortably did them repeatedly .
This is my entry post in this week's learning challenge. I'm inviting @mvchacin @heriadi @pelon53
Thank you for understanding the lesson and sharing your assignment; I hope that you will enjoy this week's lesson and try to implement it in your life if you see any such case.
Observations
Task 1 (2.6/3)
You have shared a great knowledge about plantar fasciitis, it's symptoms, causes, but you didn't add it's types. I appreciate your effort.
Task 2 (2.7/3)
In the second question, you tell us about how you have to assess a patient by doing physical examination and history taking, performing investigations but you didn't mention specialized tests. It would be better if you add special tests like windlass test, big toe extension, ankle dorsiflexion test and many more. Great.
Task 3 (3.3/4)
You try the toe curls, ball rolling and heel raise. You did the heel raise correctly. But in ball rolling, roll the ball on all the sole of the foot not a specific region and toe curls you have to perform them on ground not in the air. Always remember to cold therapy & rest is the best therapy in the treatment of plantar fasciitis. I appreciate your efforts.
Overall you made a great attempt to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. But next time try to avoid the above written suggestions. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from plantar fasciitis or any type of heel pain. Thank you.
