An Event That Changed My Approach

About 5 years ago I went thru an experience that showed me the value to help, unattached. I was heading home from a family function and it was about time dinnertime then. I took a bus public transit limed myself toward the window, because I was able despite it being borealis and able to see the sunset.

The bus halting in the middle of the ride as an elderly rider wanted on. The man looked exhausted and a large plastic bag was slung over his shoulder full of stuff.

Attending, I watched him fishing around his pocket for some money to buy and when he got on I could see this short little dude was severely panicked trying to find cash and couldn't find it. The conductor had been getting grumpier and several passengers were giving him looks of unease.

I didn't even have time to think, and I fished out some loose change to pay for the fare. With tearful eyes, the man then knelt me down thanking with a quivering voice. He said he probably lost his wallet in the market, and had no idea how to get home before I helped him. I just smiled and said “No biggie.”

While on the go, I noticed there were more and more glances to me in concern by man as he saw relief on the part as well as the fact that he left for multiple times to see if I really mean what was in my heart to do good for him and not fish.

He got off when reaching at destination, and kept on thanking……….

Lost me, really. I saw that what we give big or small can impact highly on others. The incident made me a little more aware of all those around me and not afraid to help in minor things at times, whether it be buying someone's bus fare or simply smiling at someone who may be going through a hard one.

I have begun to think more and more kindness, even the smallest act of kindness can change everything ever since then. Also that helping others even if u don't expect anything back will make you happy. Another incident that reminds me never stop doing the kind thing at every opportunity.
