A BIRTHDAY CALL THAT TURNED INTO A BLESSING

Good afternoon, steem mates. Today I share with you what happened at my call brand this morning.

“Wait a minute! Is this Jemilat Buhari Umoru on Facebook?” The voice on the other end said when he finally answered after I'd rung him a few times.

“Yes, sir. My name is Jemilat Buhari Umoru on Facebook”, I replied slowly. I was just taken aback that someone's dad knew me from Facebook. It's always a bit of a surprise when you realize how far your online presence reaches.

“I follow you, Jemilat. You are a star. It feels good to get a call from you for my birthday. Thank you very much”, he said, sounding really happy.

I was speechless, not knowing what to say. I've always been aware that people keep an eye on us from all over, but this felt really good. It was a paid call, but it turned into a special moment between someone who follows me and someone in the public eye, that is, me. It just goes to show you never really know who's watching and appreciating what you do.

“Hello, Jemmy. Are you still there”? He asked when I took a while to respond.

I got myself together and answered him. I felt like I was caught off guard. It's always a little surreal when online interactions turn into real-life moments.

“Daddy, it puzzles me that you follow me on Facebook and know me so well. I am grateful. Your daughter, Simi, paid for this call. She wants to give you a shout-out because it's your birthday.” I said.

I passed on his daughter's message, and we ended up chatting for ages. He prayed for me and reminded me that I am a star and I shouldn’t forget it. It was really heartfelt. It's nice to hear that people see something special in you, you know?

“No amount of darkness can dim your light, Little Miss Jemmy. God loves you so much.” He told me finally.

I said Amen to all his prayers, thanked him, and ended the call. I hadn't felt so peaceful, joyful, and happy all at once in a long time. It was a good moment, a real pick-me-up.

I sincerely wished that God would bless him. It was his birthday, but I got more prayers, advice, and blessings as if it was mine. I felt honored and humbled by the interaction. It just goes to show that sometimes the best gifts come in unexpected ways.
