How can we prevent the same user from having two or more Steemit accounts?
I remember last year, when the Colombia-Original community was starting, that a user who has some time on the Steemit platform started posting on it.
We asked him, as is customary in some communities, to verify himself, that is, to take a picture of himself with a small sign with his username written on it, and upload it to a post. We even gave him the option of just sending the picture to one of the administrators if he wanted to keep his exposure to a minimum, which the user did not accept.
He simply stopped posting in the community, claiming that he wanted to keep his anonymity, and that was his right, I must say, but How else could we prevent the same user from having two or more accounts?

Particularly I understood the point of him wanting to maintain his anonymity, it is understood, because in essence it is one of the features that we are supposed to enjoy with the use of cryptocurrencies, it is even one of the aspects that most attack the states, that by that way some can support or finance illegal activities.
But the detail in Steemit is that the system is different, because we know that the investment there is time and creativity of each person, and that income can be generated in the form of cryptocurrencies, which makes many want to abuse the system.
Recently we found in Colombia-Original a user with multiple accounts, and this was made possible by the use of photos and also made some other mistakes that allowed us to take our eyes to those other accounts.

Considering that the resources in most communities are limited and we are looking for a way for everyone to benefit, it is not fair that the same user is behind several accounts. For this reason, beyond the "verification" photos, I find it difficult to find a better way to avoid this abuse. Although it is clear to me that I could just as easily tell someone without a Steemit account to let me take a picture with the poster and pretend to be him.
This is a complex issue, because people who want to abuse the system will always be present everywhere, and therefore, the struggle to limit them will continue, but for now, apart from the verification photo I do not know what other way we administrators and community moderators could use to avoid this situation, and you, do you have any idea how to solve this?

I don't think it would be so problematic to cover different topics with different accounts, for example, or to pursue different goals with several accounts. As long as they are used seriously and not for cross-posting, as long as the user doesn't abuse them, I think it's perfectly okay, to be honest. I remember @the-gorilla used one account for his sports reports, one for programming stuff and one for private thoughts. So what? I could also imagine that one runs a blog and builds up stakes there and another one that one "exploits". As I said, as long as no false facts are presented and everything is handled in a regular way...!?
So what?
Yes, I know that he had several accounts, and in each one he developed different topics, I don't think that is wrong. The detail or inconvenience I see is when someone makes use of several accounts pretending to be someone different in each one. For example, in the case of my community, which has a not very large support capacity with votes, supporting two or three publications of the same user, from different accounts is where the limitation would be. Because we would subtract the possibility of supporting other users by supporting only one.
