SOME THINGS I'VE NOTICED

in #steelmonsters6 years ago

So lately I've been playing steem monsters. After looking into it I discovered that there may be a little bit of money to make playing. And so I took the venture on.

I have noticed a few things though. 1st of all, we are not playing to beat one another. This is because we do not get to choose who we play against.

Our opponents are chosen by their computer. So the other thing I have noticed is that if the computer already knows who will win once the battle begins, It already knew who would win when it picked your a opponent. This means, that the computer determines 100% by itself where you are at in your rank.

I don't believe the computer is trying to find a component that matches our level of magic and mayhem. I believe the computer is looking for a match that will look even compared to you and your level. The computer already knows who will win and who will lose before the match even begins. Therefore the computer has complete control over your rank and whether or not you are able to complete tasks and quests.

I also have discovered that after playing for a while, unless you are willing to invest an extremely considerable amount of money you will never make it above the lowest ranks.

The fact that the game works in this way, unfortunately, makes me feel as though the game will not make it long turn. At least not without some changes.

I believe, that there should be an ability for us to challenge one another and pick who we play against, to help raise the level of fun. I also believe that unless the game is changed to allow us the humans to interact There will also be problems. Maybe something along the lines of when a card's turn to play comes up, we choose between A couple of different attack choices. At least this way we the humans playing the games would have a chance to affect the outcome. I believe this has to be better than allowing a computer to determine 100% whether we win or lose before the game even begins.

I am not saying all of this to be mean to the game designers, but only to help them. I really enjoy steem monsters but I don't know how long it will last and its current state. Sure, the whales and the ultra rich will probably play but without a base how long can it possibly last?

I'm pretty sure the ability to challenge individual players is a feature that's on the horizon, and I also believe that when the tournaments kick off, they will also have different entry levels available which will help people advance

I really do hope they let us play each other, even if just in a practice mode or a seperate arena all together. That would be awespme! But I really wish there was a more interactive battle system. The winner being chosen by the computer before the match even begins doesn't seem the best approach, in my humblest opinion.(to impersonal and no control for the player.) I know it will get better as it progresses. Just wish it would hurry along. 😀

I see your point in a way. On the other hand we are just in the preliminary stages. The tournaments haven't started yet and everyone is winning tons of free cards. I think everyone has a good chance at winning enough boosters to build a higher level team.
Then too all these free cards have a market value. I feel like I am already making money. At least as much as writing posts and getting votes.
I believe more elements will be added as time goes on. Things will be even more fun.

I just REALLY want to interact while i play. So i dont feel like it's completely up to the computers choice. I love the game, just not good at being patient. I know it's REALLY just in the newborn stage, just.... So..... Inpatient. 😋

I just played you on Steem Monster and it was just a Peaceful Giant with no other cards. I felt kinda bad watching my carefully selected cards beating up an opponent with no attack. :-(

I was wondering what was going on, so I looked up your account on Steemit and found this post.

Sounds like an easy match. 😀

I am currently working my team back down the ranks to attempt to win the free cards in todays quest. I was at around 1500 rank. (Got there with my best team, black.) However, the daily quest required a team that i only have as level one. I have figured out it is VERY hard to work your way down because the computer will choose teams to that keep you in a certain "rank spread". So, with the "only peaceful giant " there is no way for the computer to pick a team i can win against. Therefore , i can lower my rank to a point i can put my level 1 team in to win the free cards in the daily quest. But i thank you for your concern and im really glad you stopped by. I cant wait for the tournaments to start AND for battling friends. (They say that's coming.)

From being in the Steem-Monster discord I have learned that Challenge play is on the horizon. There is also going to be all sorts of different rules implemented for different types of tournament play. For example .... Level one tournaments ... gold only tournaments and any other combination that an be thought up.

I just posted up a nice strategy guide for those wanting to maximize there free booster packs earned in this months league and any possible future leagues with the same type of structure.

I know my friend. Its truly just the beginning, as i told sparkesy, I'm just so inpatient. I love the game, just really wish i could interact with the cards as i play so it's as much my talent as it is the computer choosing.
Sidenote, i may be slightly addicted. 😛

I've played a dozen or so games and wondered about that. I'm new and have a low rank but I'm often paired with a much higher-ranked opponent. I hadn't thought as far as you, that the computer is choosing the winners! But did notice the skip to results option. I thought the point was to enjoy the game? But that supports your idea.

I can envision an opponent board, a list of who is online and playing, showing their rankings. With maybe a limit as to who you can choose by their ranking (okay to choose higher, a limit on how much lower?)

And the option you suggest, meeting up with people you know for a friendly challenge. I probably wouldn't do that but I like it as an option.
