My road to the SmartCash master node, blog post 1
Hello fellow Stemmit community,
i have decided to make a little blog about my long-ish road to my first SmartCash master node. I am a big SmartCash supporter, ever since i watched a video from David Hay talking about SmartCash. So thank you @davidhay for bringing SmartCash to my attention!
The road so far
So i did the math and currently i own 8515 Smart, and i am finally at a point of my journey where i can almost see my SmartNode at the end of the road ;)
My 8515 SmartCash consists of:
- 515 Smart from Steemit, Thanks to the SmartCash community here on Steemit
- 2000 Smart from a great give away by @decentralizd, Thank you dude, you are a legend!
- 6000 Smart bought from exchanges over the past month
Throwing a cage in here, for good measure
The plan is to buy the missing SmartCash when i have some money to spend again, i hope soon. Maybe i even win the SmartCash banner competition this month and jump even further to my SmartNode fingers crossed
Other important decisions
Because of my slow internet connection i decided not to host the SmartNode myself. For my hosting service i have narrowed it down to this to candidates.
- https://www.vultr.com/pricing -> around 60 USD anually
- https://nodesupply.com/pricing -> around 72 USD anually
Does anyone have experiances with this two hosting services? Or has another great hosting service? Please feel free to post your input in the comment section.
On another front, after not updating my sync for the SmartCash wallet for the past week i am back at "6 weeks missing" :cry:
I don't really know if my wallet has to be in sync to set up my SmartNode? Because as it is i cannot see my SmartCash balance. If anyone knows if my wallet has to be in sync, please enlighten me.
That is all for the moment, with a bit of luck i will tell you how i set up my SmartNode in the next post
Bye and keep hodling ;)
@cryptoroger1 I have been with Vultr since for January to date. there has been no outages from their end or issues I could think of. Digital Ocean is good I hear but i have no experience with them.
Yes I'm also using Vultr and have had no issues, though mine is running less than a month.
Thanks for the info, i will check out digital ocean. Vultr and digital ocean both look promising price-performance wise.
Today I am just in a resteem mood and as I'm reading through all these #smartcash articles I'm finding new people to connect with and interact with just because it is fun.
Thank you, much appreciated
You are most welcome.
Yes your wallet does need to be in sync because you will need to send a transaction with exactly 10,000 SMART as collateral for the smartnode.
Also you need to make a change to one of the configuration files (smartcash.conf if I remember correctly) which forces you to resync the entire blockchain. That can take a while so might be no harm to have it done before you get the 10,000 SMART.
Thanks for the info, i hope my wallet is in sync by the time i have my 10000 Smart collected ;)
