It's been a long time since I acted as a mime on stage. I had to do a Street mime for this week with a different message that everyone especially ladies out there need to hear. Convincing these children to wear costumes wasn't easy until I told them to have their shower so their bodies would be fresh and cold. The following are the step-by-step process of becoming a mime. I don't need to explain who or what a mime is.

What clothes did they choose? Mimes are known for white and black dressing or costumes and a makeover with white paint and red or black lips. They dress as though they are clowns but not entirely clowns though they are funny. Clowns wear different colours of clothes but mimes are unique with their white and black which most often isn't stripe.

So they choose a white and black stripe clothes for the male, a free black trouser and a sneaker. He also put on a suspender or suspension belt in red colour to hold the trouser from falling down. White gloves were very essential. This he put it on to look more like a mime. For the girl, she wore a flair skirt and a body fitted blouse which wouldn't obstruct movement or make her uncomfortable. She also wore white socks in the absence of gloves. I usually wear socks as gloves when I used to play as a kid.
How did they paint themselves?
With my help, they were able to paint their faces in white, black and red colours. The use of

Before painting their faces which was the first thing I did so as to avoid stains, sweat, or wear off, I told them to take a quick shower and clean themselves with a clean cloth. The essence was to avoid sweat from making the powder diminish its colour.
I then poured the powder in my hands and then used my finger tips to rub it gently on their faces especially vital organ areas like the nose and the eyes. Rubbing it this way prevents sneezing or coughing as most people are allergic to dust repellents. After ensuring that it's completely white and that no skin is shown so it would be completely like a mask, I took my lip gloss and drew a smile near their mouth area to look more like a clown. If I drew it first before rubbing the powder, it would have affected it.

So I did the red paint on the mouth and the black eye area paint and this is the outcome of their faces. Now, the dressing as explained above, they did wear their dresses and stood in the spotlight. This is the final result. Can you feel their swag already

It's quite unfortunate that the young girl child was called for and she couldn't act in the script I wanted her to act. I couldn't come the next day as that was the only free day for me because of school activities. So I had to look for a replacement and funny enough, I had to act like the main character mime.
I wanted to be a sub mime with a different story. Now, the story has changed to a different and appealing story which the video communicates in gestures, expressions and body movements. This is the recorded video and these are my casts.

The plot is a street plot setting where the mime entertains people and finally meets a beautiful lady which happens to be of his class, a mime. The video explains the story and conveys an important message. I'll state these using the gestures.
The beginning part has a mime entertain a street passer-by and people laughed. He did as if he wanted to hug the street boy but it was a prank. He also did as if he's being serious now and wants to shake the guy but it was still a prank. This street boy is a commoner while the mime is a wealthy entertainer though he does street.
The mime on one occasion proposed to a lady that is beautiful and promised to take care of her that he has money capable of taking care of her as a wealthy man. He offered a ring but she rejected. He offered gifts but she rejected. The way she flung her hand shows she wasn't interested and that the boy is not her spec. On leaving, the boy couldn't hold himself.
He dragged the girl and begged her to become his woman and that he loves her do much. The woman still rejected the wealthy man and left to her house. Years passed, no suitor approached her for marriage. She was clocking her early 40s but no one was willing to marry her.
She cried all day, regretting not accepting the wealthy mime. She didn't want someone who has money but doesn't have love deep down. She wanted someone that's real and wasn't after money. She wanted someone who can take care of himself and her as well when if they are not wealthy, someone that truly loves her not by beauty alone.
She has been single all years long not until her prayers were finally heard. Her kind of man found love in her eyes and took her in. She was reluctant at first but saw her humble the young guy was and real and accepted to date him till it leads to marriage.
What's the message? Many young ladies today don't give a damn about who they Date and later marry. Many wants people that are wealthy and rich even if they don't actually love them. As much as the money is there, love is meaningless to them. Others have turned down suitors just to wait for the right person who never comes. They end up marrying out of pity.
To our women out there, are you after money in a relationship or you're looking for a suitor who really loves you? Will you out of impatience of not getting married, marry anyone because you can't be single? It's better to be single than to pray to be single when you marry. It's not easy staying up to your 40s without seeing the right man.

You have to make a wise decision to avoid regretting it later as many are doing now. If you're currently facing such a situation, you need to keep on praying and someday, your prayers for the man of your dreams will come.
This content isn't portraying you turn down suitors because you want to wait for the right man. Nobody is perfect. Following your heart may be disastrous at times. You just have to take your time and don't rush into a relationship because you've seen a billionaire who wants to marry you.

Even the person reading this content now knows that the message is clear and has spoken impactful words to the viewers. You may not find love at first sight but will surely one day even if you're out of patience. So I think the gestures like;
- I love you sign
- Will you date me?
- I'll give you everything
- I'm tired of waiting
- No, I'm not interested in you
- I don't want much
- Someone that'll love me truly
These are gestures used in the video.
Expressions such as;
- Crying
- Moody
- Laughing
- Downhearted were used
How did the child feel while doing this activity? Did he or she find it difficult to say no words or did he or she miss any words or sounds during the process |

The children felt so excited that they were able to pass a message without speaking. This is actually helpful to those who can't speak as though they are signing to speak up or using gestures. They were so happy that at the end, the young boy asked if he's a good actor in sign language!
The child was so perfect I must say. He's an excellent character and he didn't find it difficult to use gestures after being shown the script. Since mine doesn't have a restriction on sounds as much as words don't come out, the boy laughed as a sign of expression and the girl cried to show frustration.

No words came out for people to know what she is talking about or crying about. The boy delivered unexpectedly. I didn't expect him to be so sharp and the funny thing is that we rehearsed just once and he got everything in his head.
Mimes are entertaining on streets. Even if you had problems going back home, they can lighten your mood. You may not have smiled the entire day but mere seeing a mime costume can make your day a memorable one.
