Mitochondria are membrane-enclosed cytoplasmic organelles, which are specialized for aerobic respiration and production of energy.
Mitochondria have a double membrane. The outer membrane is fairly smooth. But the inner membrane is highly convoluted, forming folds called cristae. The cristae greatly increase the surface are of the inner membrane.
At last mitochondria is a power house of cell.
