Thousands of shoes on display over deaths in Palestinian-Israel conflict

European foreign ministers were greeted by 4,500 pairs of shoes as they met Monday in Brussels, Belgium, to discuss the recent violence in Gaza.

Each pair of shoes symbolizes a life lost in the regional conflict over the past decade. Among lines of shoes in front of the EU Council, 1,000 pairs belong to children.

The installation was set up by global civic organization Avaaz. The pro-Palestinian activists are calling for EU sanctions against Israel.
