None of the proposed sanctions will stop or deter Russia or China. They will not stop until they know they can sustainably provide food and water to their entire populations.

The US government spends over $150 billion a year on scientific research and development. If we were not governed by morons staffed with other morons, we would invest massively in food production even if we don’t need it in the US, so Russia and China wouldn’t feel the need to take territory for food and water.

Russia and China are fucked as far as feeding their populations go, and their demographics are terrible. They need to make their moves to grab as much arable land with deep topsoil as possible next to water now or risk collapse in the future.

The biggest sources of arable land next to Russia’s main population centers (five big cities) are Ukraine, Poland, and Romania.

China’s aim is much worse for the USA: the farmland around the Mississippi River valley.
