Introduction

DuckDuckGo is a privacy-focused search engine that aims to protect its consumer's data from third-party web trackers. DuckDuckGo has recently launched its new tool for their browser, that works as a feature of Apple's App Tracking Transparency device,

which is Called App Tracking Protection App, the tool comes as a built-in feature of DuckDuckGo's Android web browser and prevents third-party trackers in applications from tracking users across all digital platforms.

The company introduced the App Tracking Protection Tool in an official blog post recently. In a post, DuckDuckGo quoted an AppCensus report and stated that 96% of free Android apps contain hidden third-party trackers. Of those, 87% of apps send user data to Google, while 68% send data to Facebook, now known as Meta.

The company also highlighted the fact that while Apple's iPhones and iPads now come with the App Tracking Transparency feature to prevent third-party trackers from tracking users.

there is not a single feature for Android users. Therefore, quoting these issues, a company that focuses on privacy launches its version of Tracking Application Enlightenment on Android devices.

How does this work?

So, once you have enabled Application Tracking Protection in the DuckDuckGo app on Android, it will work in the background. While doing so, the application will detect that any application attempts to send your data to any third-party tracking companies and prevents them from sending data.

The app will also provide you with detailed information, a real-time performance report of the tool, which shows which trackers it has blocked and which networks they were trying to send data to. Additionally, if you have system alerts unlocked by the DuckDuckGo app, you will receive a tracking block directly from your notifications.

How to use this feature?

Now, as we come to the discovery of the app tracking protection feature, this feature is currently in the beta phase. However, users can join the private waiting list to access the feature via DuckDuckGo settings.

So, if you want to try a new feature, you can go to the DuckDuckGo App Settings section on your Android device, then go to the App Tracking Protection section and then select the "Join Privacy Checklist" option.

The company is slowly introducing the feature to those who join the private waiting list. DuckDuckGo says it will continue to improve the tool with user feedback before releasing it publicly to global users.
