Selling Out Yourself Competently As A Business Model.

in Project HOPE5 years ago

Every entrepreneur is in one way or the other considered a business model, we are supposed to model our products, our brand and our company. In order to present ourselves as a competent model, we need to make ourselves presentable. Our minds, our faces, our voice as well as our appearance has a great description to make about our business.

I needed some money to pay some bills in school and there was no other way I could get the money, I realized that some of my hostel mates needed new foot wears and they were not ready to go out of the hostel to get it, I begged a friend to loan me some money and I quickly got few beautiful foot wears from a wholesaler who lives across the road, I took it from one room to another to show it to students who obviously had more money than I did, the outcome of the purchase was great and I was able to begin payment of the loan gradually. I could however not take out of those beautiful foot wears for my self because I knew I had a loan to pay and most importantly, handout and other school item to purchase. Students loved the fact that I could bring the foot wears to them in the comfort of their rooms and still sell at a cheap price, so I started getting referrals. There is a day I will never forget in the history of my footwear sales, I took foot wears to a particular room and the lady that had referred me to her friend dragged me into the room as she presented me to her classy friend as the lady that sells beautiful foot wears, with a beautiful smile on my face, I opened my bag to begin the display of the foot wears I had but one of the ladies gave me a very disgusting look and an annoying laughter, her friends asked what the problem was, and she told them to look at my feet, in her words she mentioned that she could not purchase a beautiful footwear from someone who could not afford to get one on her feet. I cried out my eyes that night but I learnt my lesson. Business requires that you present yourself in an acceptable way, your appearance adds so much meaning to your business.

Every business presentation does not have to be in terms of sales, it might be for a meeting to close deals and several other reasons, whatever case you find yourself as a business model, there are things to consider:
Adequate preparation is required before you proceed to any presentation, the fact that you have been doing it for a long time does not guarantee your inability to make mistakes, get prepared before any presentation.

While you face some business expert, they may want to make your effort and presentation appear inadequate, but that should never make you feel less. Remember, no one understand your business as much as you do and it will be great for you to use that to your own advantage, but in this process, be careful not to give out your business secrets.

There are other business models we will like to imitate for reasons best known to us, there are so many business enterprises, that seem successful already and we just want to be like them, but we also need to look out carefully so we do not get to run after bad business models.

How is the quarantine period going, I have been hearing about relief packages around the world, I will like to know if you have gotten anything from your government yet? The only thing I see in my country is the price of food items getting more expensive and poor people being unable to afford them. Safety is important, please stay safe. I am @oluwatobiloba.

This is really touching and educating, I must confess. You have to depict your business in everything you do.

Yes, that is one lesson I learnt the hard way too.

Image is an important part of sales and life, as the saying goes that the first impression is what counts. Of course you must have planning and a positive mindset, always think big; are keys to success.
I live in Venezuela and here food prices if in every 5 hours a practitioner, a very difficult situation.

I agree with you, thanks for reading.

Hello dear @oluwatobiloba, excellent article.

Very good reflection, without any waste this is something that we should all learn and put into practice, thanks for these valuable tips.

Touching and educational history at the same time.

Thanks for sharing.

I will like to know if you have gotten anything from your government yet?

Nothing at all.

Prices multiply rapidly. Soon there will be a shortage of biblical dimensions, since there is no gasoline in my country and producers cannot move their crops, imports of raw materials are paralyzed. We will soon be experiencing the apocalypse in Venezuela.

Things are getting out of hand really fast, the chief of staff to the president in my country died last night as a result of the virus, the price of valuables are escalating very fast too, may God save us.

Wow. I want to know something ... the story you are telling about the sale of shoes, did that really happen to you?

Yes it really happened to me.

The way you dress is the way you are addressed like they say. It is good you learnt this early.

Well said @ajewa, thanks for coming around.

Everyday I see young people imitating the wrong people, it is time we begin to see beyond the money that the role models we pick have, and pick on their contributions to the business world.

Really correct, it is good to imitate only the right people.

Entrepreneurs need to realize that, it is necessary to first sell themselves before their business.
