Different Methods of Infidelity in Relationships

I have come to understand over time that, relationships differ and even when we talk about generalized issues like cheating, it is still dependent on the individuals in the relationship and the values on which their relationship has been built over time.

Cheating is a breach of trust, it is a situation where one partner engages in a behavior that is romantically, sexually, or emotionally intimate with another person. Cheating in a relationship eventually breaks the relationship as trust which is one of the most essential fundamentals of a relationship is already affected.

When cheating is confronted and openly addressed, it creates an opportunity for either healing to happen or for further decisions to be taken by either or both parties.

When a case of cheating is ignored, it eventually leads to resentment, pain, prolonged unresolved problems, and certainly a communication breakdown.

While sexual infidelity is the most common type of infidelity that exists, it is not the only one there is, I will be exploring other forms of cheating in this post.

Sexual Infidelity is the act of engaging sexually with another person who is not your partner. It is easier to suspect your partner is cheating when they no longer find interest in being intimate with you.

Financial Infidelity is when one of the partners is not straightforward with their finances, either income, spending or saving.
Financial infidelity is dangerous because the partner in question may have spent the money you think you have saved up., it may be due to a gambling problem, or just a bad habit of compulsive shopping.

Fantasizing about another person is an act of cheating too, maybe occasionally, it is normal to admire someone you find attractive but when it gets to the point where you consistently fantasize about the person and even begin to make comparisons with your partner or begin to give excuses to visit often then that's cheating too.

Romantic feelings for another person, when you begin to lie to your partner just to get the time to visit someone else, you save to get them expensive gifts, and dedicate your time to them, that's a form of cheating too.

Micro cheating involves the fact that, you are secretly flirting with someone else, maybe on social media, lying about your relationship status, or deleting texts you do not want your partner to see.

Commemorative cheating means the partner has fallen out of love but is simply staying in the marriage to either fulfill a particular obligation or for some reason have something to gain.

Now that we listed out these other forms of cheating that exist, you can watch out for the actions you are taking that could affect your partner/relationship and do well to avoid them.

On the other hand, if you feel your partner is guilty of any of these actions, having an open conversation with them and getting your facts right before making up your mind on the next line of action is essential.
