Originally launched in 2010 for the Apple iPad, Pulse is now accessible for Android, iOS and HTML5 browsers.

The recent Pulse 3.0 update makes it even easier to use and offers a sidebar for categories, a search function from a wide range of sources (Tumblr, Youtube, Reddit, Facebook, Google, Flickr and Blekko among others), infinite scrolling, and an unlimited number of pages.

The first time you open Pulse, a screen allows you to add RSS feeds. Once your feeds are set up, the main screen is divided into tabs. All of the “packs” you added appear, each with its own tab. From now on, it's the gear button at the top left that will allow you to add and remove streams.

The strengths of Pulse:
Graphics : the very pleasant interface displays the different streams as rows of thumbnails that can be scrolled. Select an entry and it is displayed with a smooth and pleasant separation of the streams for optimal reading, in both portrait and landscape.
Reading comfort : Pulse displays RSS feeds vertically. Each feed features a selection of the most recent titles with thumbnail images. By selecting a title you access the article. To share it, just use the icons at the bottom right.
Organization : One of the strengths of Pulse is the ease with which you can organize tabs. Tap the cogwheel at the top left of the screen, then drag and drop categories left or right or drag feeds from one category to another.
Features : With a touch, the page is updated and synchronization is provided for offline reading, without internet connection. In the "browse" section, a selection of images allows you to scroll through the categories of feeds. Each category includes approximately 15 to 20 publications.
Social sharing : the “sharing” function includes the essentials: sending by email, Twitter or Facebook.
In conclusion,
For my part, I use Feedly and I am delighted. But if you're an avid iPad user, your choice may have fallen on Flipboard. One is probably worth the other, it's all about preference and use.
