What is Markdown?
Markdown is a way to style text (like making it bold or adding headings) using simple symbols. It’s like texting but with a few tricks to make it look nice on websites or apps.
1. Making Headings (Titles)
How: Use # before your words.
Examples:
Big Title → Makes a big heading.
Smaller Title → Makes a medium heading.
With a Photo: Imagine a picture showing # My Day turning into a big, bold title "My Day" on a webpage.
2. Making Text Bold or Italic
How:
bold → Makes text bold.
italic → Makes text italic.
Example: I love to dance! → "I love to dance!".
With a Photo: Picture a sentence on a screen with "love" in thick, bold letters and "dance" slanted like handwriting.
3. Making Lists
How:
Use - or * for a bullet list.
Use numbers 1. for a numbered list.
Examples:
text
Wrap
Copy
- Apples
- Bananas
Becomes:
Apples
Bananas
text
Wrap
Copy
- Step one
- Step two
Becomes:
Step one
Step two
With a Photo: Imagine a grocery list with neat bullet points next to "Apples" and "Bananas."
4. Adding Links
How: Write [text](web address).
Example: Click me → Click me.
With a Photo: Picture the words "Click me" underlined in blue, ready to take you somewhere fun online.
- Showing Code
How: Use backticks. One backtick for small bits:
code` → code.
Three backticks for big chunks:
text

Copy
print("Hi!")
With a Photo: Imagine a box with print("Hi!") inside, looking like it’s ready to run on a computer.
