Betterlife - The Diary Game | 26 February, 2025 | "Day 1: The first day of potato harvesting."

As an agriculturalist, my happiest time is harvesting. We will harvest our potatoes. Today's diary blog is going to be about harvesting potatoes. I am in the city so I have to go to the village now.

I woke up in the morning and packed my bags to go home. I have to stay in the village for 5-7 days until we harvest potatoes from all our lands and sow almond seeds in those lands. I took my bags and left for the bus terminal. The terminal was quite empty in the morning. I bought a bus ticket, boarded the bus and left. On the way, our bus had a mechanical problem and all the passengers on the bus had to return by another bus. It took me a little longer to return home.

When I returned home, I saw that our potato harvesting was in progress. After eating at home, I went to the potato field and spent some time with the workers. These potatoes are our seed potatoes which we will sow next year. We have already removed the potato plants so that the skin of the potatoes does not come off. Now we need to remove those plants from our potato field so that it is easier to dig out the potatoes by plowing the potato rows.

We two brothers are removing the dry potato plants from the potato rows and stacking them there. Later, we will remove them from the land. Once the dry potato plants are removed, we will loosen the soil in the potato rows and take out the potatoes. To loosen the soil, we will plow with a cow's plow. We will cut the potatoes and put them in one place. Our job is just to stack the potatoes on top of the soil. They will be in the sun for a day so that there is no soil on the potatoes and the potato skin hardens. We did these tasks until the afternoon.

In the evening I went to our market and sat in the shop. We already had a pesticide shop and now we have opened another new shop. I sat in the new grocery shop in Amaaf. It was quite crowded in the evening. There were retail buyers present and I was also selling products to the buyers of my brother's grocery shop.

We will bag the potatoes the next day and take them to the cold store. We will need jute bags to bag the potatoes. I bought the bags from my brother's shop. In the potato store, the potato bags are taken to the main shed in several stages, so I will put a net bag inside the jute bag as a support so that the potato bag does not burst and the potatoes do not come out. I am returning home with the bag on my bike.
