Poetic Film Review: A Prairie Home Companion (2006)
In twilight hours, when the silver screen
Bestows its glow upon the hallowed scene,
A film unfurls, a final bow,
A Prairie Home Companion, Robert Altman's crow.
Though not his crowning achievement, we're told,
It stirs the hearts of those who stories hold,
A tale of radio, of music and of song,
A world where words and laughter dance along.
Altman's brush strokes blend genres with ease,
A patchwork quilt of life's chaotic tease,
A series of vignettes, a mosaic whole,
Characters intertwine, in life's rich role.
The theatre's stage, a haven for the bold,
A Prairie Home Companion's heart is told,
A world where dreams and hopes entwine,
In a dance of black humor and country rhyme.
A cast of stars, in altitudes so high,
Garrison Keillor, Meryl Streep, and Lily Tomlin nigh,
Lindsay Lohan, too, with talent on display,
A fleeting glimpse of her artistic array.
Though not a classic, this film still holds sway,
A testament to Altman's artistry on display,
A final bow, a curtain call so grand,
A Prairie Home Companion, a director's last stand.
