Situazione oggettiva

Prima di fare una valutazione oggettiva della situazione che ho trovato a Cuba devo fare due premesse soggettive.
La prima e' che, messo tutto sulla bilancia, PER ME, vale sempre la pena anche se vi raccontero' alcune situazioni che non sono il massimo.
Limitero' al minimo, anzi ad una sola, le mie considerazioni personali perche' appunto si tratta di una analisi oggettiva, quello che vi racconto e' frutto di 40 giorni da quel lato del bloqueo, non e' un punto di vista.

Allora in questo pezzo parliamo del problema piu' grande che la gente deve affrontare in questi chiari di luna.
La comida ed i suoi costi.
Ricordo che la pensione minima e' di poco superiore ai 1000 cup, non tutti hanno altre entrate, non tutti hanno parenti all'estero, non tutti mangiano tutti i gironi.
Tenete presente che anche i salari statali sono quelli che sono, diciamo da 4000 a 10000 cup.

Prendiamo ad esempio un tizio che esce di casa appunto con 10000 cup per fare la spesa.
Acquista; un pomo de aceite, una confezione da 10 libbre di pollo, un detergente, un pacco di spaghetti, un pure', 1 pacchetto di sigarette, un cartone da 30 uova, 4 libbre di tomate, 2 frutas bomba.
Se acabo'.
I conti, cup piu', cup meno, sono giusti, fidatevi, con questa spesa fatichi a mangiare una settimana, al limite ti resta qualche uovo, poi dipende da quanta gente c'e' che apre il frigo.
10000 cup, pensione minima a 1000 e rotti, salari da 4000 a 10000.
Parliamo di circa 30 euro, nessuno butti la palla in tribuna col classico "si pero' in Italia..." e' un errore che ogni tanto faccio anche io.
Per noi 30 euro, in vacanza non sono nulla, ci vai a mangiare fuori due sere, se sei da solo, per loro sono soldi.

Quindi i cubani, tutti nessuno escluso, sono alla spasmodica ricerca quotidiana di quattrini, di come farli, di dove trovarli.
Altro esempio; la mia famiglia di riferimento ha un chioschetto nel portal, ci tira fuori qualche deca ogni mese, la figlia in Europa quando puo' paga un "combo" con diversi prodotti.
Detto questo la carne de puerco faticano a permettersela perche' parliamo di 700/800 pesos alla libbra e parliamo di gente che tutto sommato la sfanga, ma con i 2300 cup di pensione del boss dove arrivavano?

Attenzione non sto' parlando di vizi, parlo di pollo, uova, arroz (che non ho menzionato insieme a zucchero, caffe', sale ed altro) insomma della canasta basica.
Questo soltanto per la comida, se hai dei figli li devi vestire, telefonino, ricarica, pranzo e merenda a scuola, una sorta di paghetta, quell'abrigo da universitario Usa che va tanto di moda ma che costa 8000 cup ecc, ecc...

Poi in casa sempre qualcosa si rompe, non tutti i cubani sanno fare gli elettricisti, i muratori, gli idraulici e se chiami queste figure soltanto perche' ti arrivino a casa a vedere il problema sono 1000 cup, e ancora devono iniziare il lavoro.
Non parliamo se poi hai problemi di salute, ho acquistato 2 salbutamol per la mia leggera asma, e' migliore del nostro ventolin ma sono 750 cup cadauno piu' 150 perche' me li hanno portati a casa.
"Para mi no es nada" come direbbero i cubani ma per loro sono bei soldini.
Se poi devi ricoverare un parente, apriti cielo, devi procurare praticamente tutto ma sul discorso sanita' faro' in post in futuro perche' e' un argomento molto delicato.

Tornando a bomba, come campa il vecchiarillo con 1000/1500 pesos di pensione?
Per questa ragione mai come ora, soprattutto all'Avana ma anche a Tunas ho visto anziani malridotti che chiedevano l'elemosina.
Questo a Cuba NON DOVEVA capitare.
Pero' la domanda soggettiva e' un altra.
E' davvero soltanto colpa del governo o c'entrano anche i comportamenti personali di una buona fetta di popolazione?

OBJECTIVE SITUATION

Before making an objective assessment of the situation I found in Cuba I must make two subjective premises.
The first is that, putting everything on the scale, FOR ME, it is always worth it even if I will tell you about some situations that are not the best.
I will limit my personal considerations to the minimum, or rather to just one, because it is precisely an objective analysis, what I am telling you is the result of 40 days on that side of the blockade, it is not a point of view.

So in this piece we talk about the biggest problem that people have to face in these moonlights.
Food and its costs.
I remember that the minimum pension is just over 1000 cup, not everyone has other income, not everyone has relatives abroad, not everyone eats every day.
Keep in mind that even state salaries are what they are, let's say from 4000 to 10000 cup.

Let's take for example a guy who leaves home with 10,000 cups to go shopping.
He buys; an apple of oil, a 10-pound pack of chicken, a detergent, a pack of spaghetti, a puree, 1 pack of cigarettes, a carton of 30 eggs, 4 pounds of tomatoes, 2 frutas bomba.
Se acabo'.
The math, cup more, cup less, is right, trust me, with this expense you struggle to eat for a week, at most you have a few eggs left, then it depends on how many people open the fridge.

We're talking about 30 euros, no one throws the ball into the stands with the classic "yes but in Italy..." it's a mistake that I make every now and then too.
For us 30 euros, on vacation are nothing, you go out to eat for two nights, if you are alone, for them it is money.

So the Cubans, all without exception, are in a daily frantic search for money, how to make it, where to find it.
Another example; my reference family has a kiosk in the portal, they get a few decas out of it every month, the daughter in Europe when she can pays a "combo" with different products.
Having said that, they struggle to afford the carne de puerco because we are talking about 700/800 pesos a pound and we are talking about people who all in all get by, but with the 2300 cup of the boss's pension where did they get by?

Mind you, I am not talking about vices, I am talking about chicken, eggs, rice (which I did not mention along with sugar, coffee, salt and other things) in short the basic canasta.
This is just for food, if you have children you have to dress them, cell phone, charging, lunch and snack at school, a sort of pocket money, that US university abrig that is so trendy but costs 8000 cups etc, etc...

Then at home something always breaks, not all Cubans know how to be electricians, bricklayers, plumbers and if you call these people just to come to your house to see the problem it's 1000 cups, and they still have to start the work.
Let's not talk about if you have health problems, I bought 2 salbutamol for my mild asthma, it's better than our ventolin but it's 750 cups each plus 150 because they brought them home.
"Para mi no es nada" as the Cubans would say but for them it's a lot of money.
If you then have to hospitalize a relative, hell breaks loose, you have to provide practically everything but I will post about healthcare in the future because it is a very delicate subject.

Getting back to the point, how does the old man live on a 1000/1500 peso pension?
For this reason, never like now, especially in Havana but also in Tunas, have I seen elderly people in bad shape begging.
This SHOULD NOT have happened in Cuba.
But the subjective question is another.
Is it really only the government's fault or does the personal behavior of a good portion of the population also have something to do with it?
