Las Tunas, per la terza volta nella sua storia e la seconda consecutiva si e' laureata campione di Cuba di baseball, della pelota come la chiamano loro.
Hanno, ma da tunero acquisito potrei dire ABBIAMO, battuto in semifinale Granma ed in finale Pinar del Rio questo dopo aver fatto un campionato quasi sempre in testa.

Ho visto i video della squadra che sfilava per la citta' sul pullman scoperto, la gente tutta in strada ma soprattutto lo stadio Mella strapieno di gente durante la partita decisiva.
E' la prima volta che si vince il titolo proprio nello stadio cittadino, le altre due volte era capitato in trasferta.
La gente di Tunas ha fatto festa per almeno 3 giorni, ci voleva proprio.
Con tutte le difficolta' che sta' affrontando la provincia riuscire a distrarre la testa dai problemi di tutti i giorni per fare un po' di meritata fiesta e' stato davvero molto bello.

In citta' il baseball e' molto seguito soprattutto dalle generazioni di mezzo e da quelle piu' datate, i giovani (come accade in tutta Cuba) sembrano piu' interessati al calcio anche se nello stadio piccolo della pelota vedo sempre molti bambini che si allenano con mazza e guantone.
Sulle panchine del maggior parco cittadino spesso si vedono vecchi cubani che litigano animatamente proprio per il risultato di una partita o il comportamento di un certo giocatore.

Certo quella gente, nei decenni, ha visto un baseball migliore di quello attuale dove i migliori giocatori, comprensibilmente, sono emigrati negli Usa anche se soltanto pochissimi sono poi finiti a giocare nella Grande Liga statunitense.
Comunque sono davvero felice, di baseball capisco poco o nulla ma sono contento che la gente di Tunas abbia trovato, finalmente , una ragione per fare festa.

LAS TUNAS CHAMPIONS!

Las Tunas, for the third time in its history and the second consecutive time, has been crowned champion of Cuba in baseball, or pelota as they call it.
They have, but as an acquired tunero I could say WE HAVE, beaten Granma in the semifinals and Pinar del Rio in the finals, this after having played a championship almost always in the lead.

I saw the videos of the team parading through the city on the open bus, the people all in the streets but above all the Mella stadium packed with people during the decisive match.
It is the first time that the title has been won in the city stadium, the other two times it had happened away.
The people of Tunas celebrated for at least 3 days, it was really needed.
With all the difficulties that the province is facing, managing to distract the mind from everyday problems to have a little deserved fiesta was really very nice.

In the city, baseball is very popular, especially among the middle and older generations; young people (as happens in all of Cuba) seem more interested in soccer, even though in the small pelota stadium I always see many children training with bat and glove.
On the benches of the largest city park, you can often see old Cubans arguing heatedly over the result of a game or the behavior of a certain player.

Of course, those people, over the decades, have seen a better baseball than the current one, where the best players, understandably, have emigrated to the United States, even though only a few have ended up playing in the American Grande Liga.
However, I am really happy, I understand little or nothing about baseball, but I am happy that the people of Tunas have finally found a reason to celebrate.
