Words on Violence Against Women
Today I want to spend time, to talk about a topic that is common worldwide, but I see it very close to my house, there is a neighbor who is a victim of violence, I trust God to help her to have strength and self-love to get out of that situation.
I have talked with my parents on the subject and they have given me many explanations and some examples that help me to compare and have a vision on this, so I want to share a few words here.
First of all, we must all give value to life, imagine that women give life, and they do not deserve abuse of any kind.
As a woman we must prepare ourselves about gender violence, the violence that has been imposed against women exceeds the limits of injustice, both in past and current generations, and this type of violence has been crossing religious barriers, social classes, race , and educational preparation, can be presented without distinction of age and social level.
I consider that society has imposed patterns that indicate that the man is the strong sex, the one that provides the economic sustenance and to whom respect is due, while the woman has always been considered the weaker sex, and who is taught to be passive in the face of violence, without taking into account that this is one of the worst mistakes made; These social prejudices have restricted the right of women to actively participate in the development of society, and have generated violence that begins psychologically.
Rather than pointing out machismo as the culprit for violence against women, I believe that everything is based on the lack of love, lack of values and respect in the family, those men who mistreat, statistically, were also mistreated, or grew up seeing mistreatment between father and mother.
No kind of abuse can be justified, even if the origin has an explanation, the truth is that women and any human being deserve to be treated without violence.
Generally, among the consequences of abuse, we find physical and psychological trauma, low self-esteem, self-pity, self-reliance. Women often justify abuse, they justify these men by stating that they are to blame for the assault. (This is what happens with my neighbor, she considers that she deserves the aggression)
Every abused woman must raise her voice, and say "No more violence", must respect and love herself.
In educational institutions, information on violence, its identification, factors that originate it and how it can be combated should be promoted, since being a child and adolescent, each woman must learn to value herself.
In Venezuela, the struggle of women to achieve demands has been incalculable in the political, labor, legal and social fields, but they must also fight to eradicate gender violence, eradicate violence against women.
