A Christmas Surprise!............. NW Cascade Wanderings

A few days before Christmas, a packaged arrived! This was not from one of our Secret Santas, but from my adopted sister @silversaver888! She is like a sister to me as I never had one growing up. The friendship we’ve forged together is something I cherish! 🥰

This package from her was addressed to both @silvertop and myself. I put it under the tree to open at Christmas.

Upon opening, we found 2 cards and a box of decadent Ferrero Rocher hazelnut candies! Mmmmmmm! Tasty! 😋

There were two envelopes. Opening the first revealed a Christmas card.

Inside, it reads:
Dearest Liz and Mike,

Merry Christmas!

May the wonder of that First Christmas, the joy of God’s abundant blessings and the peace of Jesus’ presence be with you always!

The second envelope revealed another Christmas card and more!

This card reads: Dearest Elizabethbit & Silvertop, my most favorite couple

The gold foil looking item isn’t what I originally thought it was nor probably what you might be thinking it is. This gold looking Bitcoin ‘dollar-like certificate is really something called Moon Money. It is a 144 kb programmable data holder. It is un-tearable, won’t fade, water resistant storage unit. It can be used as a cold storage wallet, a crypto gift card, or a way to give a private message to someone. You can also launch a website. How does it work? The electromagnetic field produced by your phone both powers it and enables it to receive/send data upon contact. Similar in how tap to pay works. To write data and do things, there is an app called NFC tools. We haven’t done that yet, but it sounds like a cool thing to investigate!

Next was one of my favorite themed silver rounds! The Buffalo/Indian Head round! @silversaver888 knows me well!

On the obverse is the classic Indian Head with the word ‘Liberty’ written to the upper right. There is a Native American print in the background, which is unique. This is a Monarch Metals round; high relief,

The reverse is beautiful!

A beautifully detailed Buffalo with the Native American design in the background, along with .999 Fine Silver at the bottom of the round, and One Troy Ounce at the top. I love it!

Next is the Pacific Northwest Deer round! A lovely round depicting a mother Blacktail deer and her baby on the obverse.

They are standing in lush ferns that are native here.

The reverse shows a majestic Blacktail buck with a Pacific Northwest backdrop. The words ‘One Troy Ounce ‘ and ‘.999 Fine Silver’ are below the buck. A beautiful round and very appropriate for avid hikers that we are!

We love them, sis! Thank you for your thoughtfulness of these gifts! We will cherish them for years to come! ( except the candy which we will cherish until it’s gone!) 😁

Today, we ran a couple of errands and then stopped at our favorite Starbucks for some re-fueling!

Luke 2:25-35

At that time there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon. He was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon him and had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. That day the Spirit led him to the Temple. So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required, Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying,
“Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace, as you have promised. have seen your salvation, which you have prepared for all people.
He is a light to reveal God to the nations,
and he is the glory of your people Israel!”
Jesus’ parents were amazed at what was being said about him. Then Simeon blessed them, and he said to Mary, the baby’s mother, “This child is destined to cause many in Israel to fall, and many others to rise. He has been sent as a sign from God, but many will oppose him. As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul.”
