Incredible India monthly contest of November #2|Are you for or against online shopping?
Introduction |
---|
Before now, people often wasted time going to shops to shop for their items. Nowadays, it's completely different. Going to shops is now a choice if you want to. Online shopping has been taken to the next level these days. Most times, a lot of people do window shopping online. Let's look out for the contest hints.
Which shopping style do you prefer, online or offline? Reasons. |

Offline
I prefer offline shopping, although I make use of the two.
My reasons for choosing offline shopping, no matter the impact of online, are as follows;
It is reliable. You get what you want.
It reduces loss or wastage of money on the wrong item.
It is more likely trustworthy than online scammers.
You will have the ability to make your choice from.
Share both the Pros and cons of both shopping styles! |

Offline Cons
- For proper verification of the items you are buying, whether they are in good condition or not. For example, a friend saw a shoe online. He didn't know the shoes had issues, but he had chosen the shoes and had paid for them. The vendor refused to return the money he paid for the item, claiming it was in good condition when delivered to him.
- Another reason for choosing offline shopping is to ensure that the item you need is actually what you get. I saw a particular handbag and shoes online on different occasions. The handbag was from someone I knew. I paid for the bag and so, it was delivered to me. On checking the bag, I noticed it was below the standard I thought it to be. I reported it back to her, and she asked that I return it and my money was transferred back to me. About the shoes, I asked the vendor to bring them to me. When I saw the shoes again, they were below the expected standard. I told the vendor not to be offended that I didn't check it well.
- Lastly, offline shopping is preferable for me because you need to properly test the item. Again, I saw a shoe online. I ordered it and gave the lady my size. On the delivery of the shoes to me, the shoes weren't my size. I called the lady back, and she apologised and promised to change it to another one, which she actually did.
If it was offline, I would have checked the items if they were in good condition and, if it was my size, and also made sure it was what I wanted and not inferior items.
Offline Pros
It's time-consuming as you need to be there physically at the shop.
It may cost more transport fare.
It may cause you to spend more money on buying other items you didn't budget for.
Online Cons
It saves time by physically going to the shop
It sometimes saves the cost of transport fares, (not all)
The goods are delivered to you at your doorstep
It's quick because you don't have to be at the shop to check other goods.
Online Pros
The goods may not be in good condition.
You may end up buying inferior items.
You can be scammed by some online scammers. I have heard of online vendors being duped and sometimes getting killed by some bad online elements. I have also heard of a company delivery service man who was killed by a customer.
Do you have any bitter experience with online or offline purchases? Share. |

Yes, I bought a phone charger online. It was delivered to me. The guy claimed it was in good condition and zoomed off, by the time I wanted to make use of the charger, I noticed it was faulty. The guy who sold and delivered it to me denied it wasn't. He said I should bring it to his shop, which was very far away from my location. I wasn't happy because what I wanted didn't work out for me and the vendor didn't have a good customer service manners.
