Hello friends welcome to my blog.

What type of role play did you choose for this activity? Why did you choose it?

The Role-playing game was played among two kids and me. I explained the game to the kids, telling them what the game entails, which is, playing a professional or an animal role. I allowed them to choose their roles themselves because I wanted them to be comfortable while performing their roles.

The bigger kid choose to be a doctor, and the younger kid choose a teacher, and we brainstormed together to get an acting that incorporated the characters. When we got the story to play, I had to choose the role of a student. As the bigger kid had chosen to be a doctor, the younger kid was a teacher, and I was the student. The kids choose their roles because they love them and are comfortable with them, while I chose mine as the student to fit in the storyline of the activity.

Our storyline for the activity was a school scene with a teacher and his student having a good teaching time when a doctor who has been sent by the government to visit schools for free medical check-ups, visited their school and came to their classroom to carry out the free medical check he was assigned to come do from the government. When he was done checking them, he (the doctor) advised the teacher and student on how to live a healthy lifestyle. It was an engaging moment for the doctor, student and teacher.

What characteristics differentiate your characters from your own personalities?

The bigger kid, who acts the role of a Doctor, has a different characteristic from his personality as he is a playful child who is always busy with his play activities, but his role made him maintain the composure of a doctor who is calm and patient enough to listen, talk and carefully monitor his patient.

For the younger kid, he acted the role of a teacher, which was not too different character from his personality. He is a person who cares for and manages everyone around him, so acting as a teacher was not difficult for him to manage the classroom activity. But where he has a slightly different character with the teacher role was spending time on a particular task; he likes whatever he does to be done briefly so he can switch to something else. So, the teacher role made him a different person, spending more time acting the role.

Taking instructions from the kids today was a different characteristic from my personality as I used to be the one giving instructions to them, but today, in my role as a student, I listened and took instructions from my teacher and the doctor who came for free medical check in my school.

How did the child feel during the activity? Was he/she comfortable participating?

They felt excited but where compose while they acted the character. The kids were comfortable because I allowed them to choose the roles they wanted so they would be comfortable and enjoy the activity; I worked with their choices. What I did was find a role that would match their choice in the activity, so we would all have fun. They acted well and were absolutely comfortable participating and acting in the profession they have always admired.

Share everything you did during the role play, your experience and how you felt

While we carried out the role-play, We had a happy experience. The little kid who acted as a teacher did a great job in teaching. When he chose the teaching role, I was sceptical about what he could do, but I allowed him since that was the role he loved to play. He carried his students along with his teaching; even when the doctor visited his class, he was welcoming.

The kid who acted the role of a doctor was also calm with his patients. We were all happy having the opportunity to act on a character different from our personality. The kids tried so hard to put up with their characters as they played. They communicate so well through their words and actions in the role, and I was surprised about it.

There was also collaboration as each person worked out their role to fit in with every person's role in the activity. I like how the kids treated and see me as their student and patient. They where creative and confident as the activity was going on. Seeing them act the way I never knew they were capable of was impressive.
