Blessings Of Unity
Brethren today we will be talking about the blessings of unity, which have been pointed out in the Scriptures to include joy, peace, and progress. When you go through Psalm 133:1-3, you will notice David lamenting, almost in despair. Perhaps this was so due to the fact that he had seen how difficult to see unity was among the brethren, even in his time.
Today, because we say a slogan like “united we stand; divided we fall” in words, sing it in songs and various ways, there are still divisions among us. Unfortunately, this is also found among the so-called Christian who should be the leading lights for this dark world. This is why joy, peace, and progress have gotten away from so a lot Christian today.
This is why, as a Church, we haven't been able to fulfill the Great Commission given us by Jesus Christ as effectively as we desire. Sometimes I kept wondering how can two missionaries commissioned by the same organization to the same place of operation not be united? Unfortunately, this is what we are experiencing in the Body of Christ in a lot of places today. Christians now fall victim to the devil, becoming victims of this disunity.
If the Christians can work together in unity, Psalm 133:1-3 says our blessings are certain. The subject of unity is so vital that the Lord Jesus spent time praying about it in the gospel according to John.
The lack of love is the main cause of disunity. The Lord Jesus however, has prayed about this too. We see that in 1 John 3:11. Let us start to work towards the accomplishments of our Lord’s prayer so that the Body of Christ can make progress in our missionary and evangelistic endeavors.
