In my opinion the most common allergy is hay fever. The reason because in spring when everything around start blooming we have pollution everywhere, there are grasses, flowers and trees, everything around has pollen. The weather started to warm up and also we have many insects that can fly around, climb around and also be a source of transmission of pollen.
There are few symptoms of allergy and they are easy to recognise:
itchy nose, that usually makes people to sneeze and cause runny nose despite of not being cold.
people sneeze and that makes our nose blocked because of swelling of mucosa of our nose
itchy eyes, that become red and to tear
At least there are symptoms what myself and some of my colleagues who suffer from such allergy to pollen have during spring time.
This kind of allergy like hay fever is not really easy to prevent, because in spring we have pollution everywhere and only winter or rainy weather is the time when we do not have the source of that allergy. Sometimes people may move from one climate to another, especially if they know what type of grasses or trees causing that then they can move always and may not have problem.
There are few differences:
for allergy there is no temperature
the people feel themselves well and functioning absolutely normal. For cold of infection, people have no energy, tired, no appetite and feeling unwell
infection or cold usually settles after few days, allergy will last for the season of blooming of flowers, grasses and so long trees have pollution.
