Who is a caregiver? |
---|
Is a person who provides assistance to people in need, like the sick, aged etc.
🤯 Are you prepared to care for a terminally ill family member? |
---|
Yes, I'm very much prepared to care for any of my family member who is terminally ill. Loving and caring for people especially sick one has always been one thing I love doing. Caring and offering assistance to any of my sick family members is one thing i would do wholeheartedly.
🤯 How much does caregiving affect health? |

Caregiving is a herculan task, it has lots of negative impact on health and some of them includes the following.
- Physical stress
Caregivers are usually burned out and exhausted from lifting patients, ensuring they take their food and Medications. Some also have to deal with very troublesome patients who really stress them a lot.
- Nosocomial Infections
Caregivers are usually at the risk of contracting Hospitals bound infections or other infections while on duty.
- Mental stress
Taking care of a sick person can have a toil on someone's mental stability and this can cause depression, anxiety and emotional trauma.
- Lack of sleep
Too much stress can alter Caregivers sleep patterns therefore leading to Insomnia.
- Physical sickness
One can equally experience muscle pain and headache from caring for patients.
🤯 Do you know that it is not only physical care but also mental care, how should it be handled |
---|
Caregivers should follow the following tips to
- Prioritize self care
Look out for yourself first, because you need to be alive before caring for someone else. Engage in exercise, hobbies, self meditation and relaxing in nature.
- Set boundaries
Learn to say no to some certain tasks, avoid working over schedule in order to avoid burnouts.
- Engage in healthy lifestyles
Eat balanced diet, stay hydrated, get enough sleep daily and take a break if it becomes overwhelming.
- Adequate Time management
Manage your time properly, work time shouldn't interfere with leisure time.
🤯 The support group should work so that the load can be carried. |
---|
Yes, like you said, it's very essential to have a well functioning support group where caregivers can come together and share their burdens, seek for advice from others, network and also have fun. This Support group can be a Faith based group or Non- Governmental Organisations.
Thanks for reading my post, I invite @ukpono, @akareen and @tripple-a to participate in this contest.
Taking care of someone who is ill is not an easy task. If care is not taken such may also land in the hospital. The caregiver must have enough time to sleep and also eat good balance diet that contains require nutrients. Thank for the invitation I will try to participate
💕
In addition to offering practical support such as advice and resources, they can also provide much-needed emotional and spiritual support for caregivers. Having a place like this can help caregivers feel valued, less lonely, and even regain their passion for continuing in this challenging role.
Thanks for your comment.
