Malaria | Malaria Awareness Challenge
Warm greetings my beloved steemians across the globe, hope you're all enjoying the new month, as for me I am excited because it's my birth month. I'm delighted to also participate in this awesome contest, especially as it's all about our health, before I'll go into the full writing I will first of all appreciate the organizer of the contest @ahsansharif, thank you Sir🙏🏼.
I will proceed to the hint questions.
What Is Malaria? |
---|
Malaria is a disease caused by a tiny parasite that is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito and it's sometimes a life-threatening disease. Malaria is very common in hot countries, especially in Africa and part of Asia at large, though it can be prevented and also be treated through the use of antimalarial medication.
What Are The Three Symptoms Of Malaria Explain Ut |
---|
We have many symptoms of malaria, but in this context I will only mention the three main symptoms.
Fever
Chill
Headache
Fever: This is the common symptom of malaria, it is usually the first sign of infection. When the parasite enters your body it goes straight to the bloodstream and that will trigger the immune system and it will cause the body temperature to rise.
And this high temperature is usually above 38°C (100.4°F) and the fever can be so intense and reoccurring.
Chill: This is also another common symptom you will have, which is feeling cold even in a warm or hot environment and this come with shaking, like shivering, this is because of how the parasite keep multiplying in the bloodstream.
Headache: Severe and persistent headache will occur and it's called pounding, malaria headache causing fatigue and atimes nausea which is caused by the parasite effect on the brain and nervous system
How Does Malaria Affect Our Lives? |
---|
As I earlier said that malaria is a life-threatening disease and as such can lead to severe complications, and can cause significant damage to various organs and system of the body if it's not treated properly or left untreated.
Malaria disease may also cause you not to have enough red blood cells for an adequate supply of oxygen to your body tissues.
Some fatal complications that malaria disease can leads to are:
- Malaria can cause brain damage,
- Malaria can cause organ failure and death
- In children and pregnant women, malaria can cause seizures, severe anemia, respiratory distress, kidney and liver failure, cardiovascular collapse, and shock.
How To Prevent Malaria |
---|
To prevent malaria, we are to take these simple yet effective precautions:
Cover Your Sleeping Area: Cover your entire room or sleeping area with a bed net treated with insecticide. This will create a barrier between the mosquitoes and you.
Cover Yourself Up: During peak mosquito seasons, wear full protective clothing such as, long sleeved shirts, long pants and socks
Apply a thin layer of natural mosquito repellent cream to exposed skin.
Keep your environment clean and avoid stagnated water, make sure the door and windows of your house is closed to prevent mosquitoes from entering.
If we take these measures we can significantly reduce our risk of contracting malaria.
Conclusion |
---|
Malaria is a serious disease, but preventable. By the used of bed nets, wearing protective clothing, and applying repellents, you can also be aware of your surroundings, consult your doctor about antimalarial medication, keep your environment clean, avoid peak mosquito hours, and stay informed about outbreaks.
