Thank God It's Friday means very little when you don't work a 9-5 M-F gig. Doesn't mean much when you work a six day week either. It's funny how our culture is largely defined by labor. I guess not. Maybe it's always been defined in the context of labor. As opposed to what some people refer to as "work."

Today's work involves uploading the latest episode and monitoring my favourite thought castors. I may not be financially prepared, but I believe I'm mentally, emotionally, and physically prepared. for an uncertain future.

Which brings me to the morning fitness. I actually did five burpees... slowly, and to my pleasure... the shoulder did not get very sore. So as therapy this is working and I think it's getting stronger as well.

Now... one more upload and I can go out.

Just a few steps from the hotel is a supermercado and a cafe that serves decent tea... now that I understand better how to describe what I want. Small cups though.

The tea index

It was eight years ago when I got my ESL certification. That's where I first heard about the Big Mac way to evaluate a country's cost of living. There's a phrase for it, (the Big Mac index) but I forget. Anyway, for me it's the price of a cup of tea. It averages $2 USD mas o minus. Which is why, at the high end in Morocco, a cup would cost 20-25 dihram, and in Tarifa, €1.2. Yesterday in Sevilla it was €1.4. The one I just finished? If it's out of range, I won't be back.

€1.1... right in range.

Then I walked around in a big circle. Headache returned, both sides over my ears. Possible culprits... heat? DOMS? I can't think of anything else. Shower. Relax... relax more. Then finally out again. Oh, and I ate. The morning wandering wasn't a total loss. There's a supermercado right across the street. How did I miss it? Too busy looking for the hotel.

So, three eggs, salad, avocado... then out again around 18:00. There's a park next to the hotel with an exercise place for elders. I can make it work.

Wandered to the river. Stopped into a spot called Toby's World. Toby is a dog. This spot is like the White Dog (Philadelphia Cafe)... well in the respect that it's inspired by a dog. After my cup I was summarily ignored. That's Spain. I think it's being unobtrusive, but I've sat here an hour... and nothing.

So... back to the hotel. It's Friday. Let's see what's up at the pool.

By the way, I like the pool. It's not deep, but I make it work.

Wandering back from my walk I discovered a little workout park right behind the hotel, so I got some pulling in and some pushing. It was short... relatively, but satisfying.

Beer at the pool bar before bed. Jamon and cheese late too.
