Mindful Monday: Let's practice empathy! [EN] // ¡Practiquemos la Empatía! [ES[
Today I had to go out with my father and my brother to the city, about 40 kilometers away from my village, we had to fulfill some commitments because of my brother's work and I would take advantage of going to buy some medicines for my mother and replenish some food and spices for the pantry of my house, We were able to achieve our goals, while my brother was doing his job I went to do my shopping, the view was really sad, everywhere I could see lines of people, some to be able to refuel, others to buy food and some more lines to be able to fill some water containers.
The truth is that unlike many other people, I did not want to take pictures of the situation, because it is really very sad to see my people in such a harsh reality. When I went to look for my brother, an elderly man who was walking down the street could be seen crying, very upset because he had to walk a long way to get about 20 liters of water, and among so many things he said, I heard that he would have to make other trips because in his house he did not have a drop of water and he did not arrive. On the other hand, we saw another gentleman also of advanced age marrying pigeons, in his face we could see the need and hunger and this obviously led him to do what he did.
A third party passing by only said, "Serves you right for supporting this government! And maybe it's true, to be honest, for a moment I thought the same thing, because in a certain way, what is happening in our country is the fault of the citizens who at the time supported this government and continue to support it, however, thanks to this hatred in which we are immersed (and I say we are because at times it manages to catch up with me) we are not advancing towards the peace that can probably help us evolve as a society. Certainly, if one day we manage to get out of this tyranny that today wraps us up and destroys thousands of homes and lives every day, we will be left with the construction of a new society, of working again to build citizens with values such as respect for others, empathy and kindness.
I personally think that our elderly deserve respect and care, and that none of them should have to go through the needs that I have seen many of them go through. Many of them have spent their whole lives working, and the corresponding thing would be for them to enjoy a decent pension that would cover their basic needs at least, and the peace and quiet for which many of them worked. And this should not only be in my country, the elderly in our world deserve this and more, they are the ones who have worked in many cases so that today we can enjoy it.

Hoy tuve que salir con mi padre y mi hermano a la ciudad, a unos 40 kilómetros de distancia de mi pueblo, teníamos que cumplir algunos compromisos por el trabajo de mi hermano y yo aprovecharía de ir a comprar algunas medicinas para mi madre y reponer algunos víveres y especias para la despensa de mi casa, pudimos lograr nuestros objetivos planteados, mientras mi hermano estaba haciendo su trabajo yo fui a hacer mis compras, la vista era realmente triste, por todos lados podía ver colas de personas, unos para poder surtir combustible, otros para comprar comida y otras colas más para poder llenar algunos envases de agua.
La verdad es que a diferencia de muchas otras personas no quise tomar fotografías de la situación, pues realmente es muy triste ver a mi pueblo en esta realidad tan cruda. al ir a buscar a mi hermano un señor de avanzada edad que iba por la calle se podía ver llorando muy molesto porque tenía que caminar mucho para ir a buscar unos 20 litros de agua, y entre tantas cosas que dijo escuche que tendría que dar otros viajes más porque en su casa no tenía una gota de agua y que no llegaba. Por otro lado, vimos a otro señor también de avanzada edad casando palomas, en su cara se veía la necesidad y el hambre y esta evidentemente lo llevaba a hacer lo que hacía.
Un tercero que pasaba lo único que dijo fue, ¡Eso se lo merecen por apoyar este gobierno! Y tal vez sea cierto, siendo sincera, por un momento pensé lo mismo, pues en cierta parte, lo que sucede en nuestro país es culpa de los ciudadanos que en su momento apoyaron este gobierno y lo continúan apoyando, sin embargo, gracias a ese odio en el que estamos inmersos (y digo estamos porque en ocasiones logra alcanzarme) no avanzamos hacia la paz que probablemente pueda ayudarnos a evolucionar como sociedad. Ciertamente si algún día logramos salir de esta tiranía que hoy nos arropa y destruye miles de hogares y vidas a diario, nos quedara la construcción de una nueva sociedad, de trabajar nuevamente en la construcción de ciudadanos con valores como el respeto al prójimo, la empatía y la amabilidad.
Personalmente pienso que nuestros ancianos merecen respeto y cuidado, y que ninguno debería pasar por las necesidades que he visto a muchos pasar, muchos de estos han pasado toda su vida trabajando y lo correspondiente seria que gozaran de una pensión digna que alcanzara para cubrir sus necesidades básicas al menos y de la paz y tranquilidad por la que muchos de estos trabajaron. Y esto debería ser no solo en mi país, los ancianos en nuestro mundo se merecen esto y más, son los que han trabajado en muchos casos para que hoy tengamos lo disfrutamos.
