It Takes A Village To Make A Father, Happy Father's Day

My father would have turned 80 today. "Happy 80th Heavenly Birthday to my loving husband," my mother texted me early in the morning. I removed my pillowcase from the pillow and covered my eyes with it, allowing the tears to soak into the fabric. And I sat in my bed, somberly meditating. But this isn't actually a depressing tale.

It is, however, a sobering and important reminder that time does not wait for anyone, and that my father's death might still feel like a new wound to me at any given time. It's been a long journey.
