One of my best friends is a ferret named Daemon

You might be able to tell from the above photo that my lil one is a wise one. It's in the eyes...
Every day I feel a good sense of Love from her - She's so smart, and I've trained this one well.
She likes to ride on my shoulders, and we go places around the house - if she would only live long enough to be old with me I would be that crazy old man wizard look alike.
When I picked her out, I didn't actually know it was a girl, but the way she interacted with the other ferrets I knew she was the one. All of the other ferrets were sleeping and not really moving around much, but Daemon would persist playing around with them, by pouncing on them. haha!
She was so hyper the first year, I could hardly hold her. And she didn't understand the joys of being petted and scratched only until the past year or so - she's 4.
My last ferret, Cosmo, didn't live that long. At age 2 he began to lose his hair very rapidly. When we went to the vet (at that time there was only one that would see a ferret here) the vet found that his prostate had enlarged the size of a human male's. He had cancer that wrapped around his organs. We tried to save him with surgery, but he died during it. I'd never had been so devastated - and my ex-wife and I had to take off a few days to morn his death.
So, I've been paranoid the whole time I've had Daemon - trying everything I can to prolong her life - so she's quite healthy.
She's calmed down a bit over the years, but she still comes up to me wanting to play from time to time.
These little creatures are great pets, and very loving (well mine have been so far).
Her name is derived from two things, which are both fitting. One the word Daemon refers to supernatural creatures that are in between gods and humans. In the movie the Golden Compass the little girl in it has a protecting daemon.

The name also derives from computer programs that runs as a background process, rather than being under the direct control of an interactive user. This is fitting because as I work on the computer she's running around working on things too. hehehe.
Daemon is not like Cosmo - Cosmo would steal all kinds of things of mine and take it to his hiding spot. Daemon doesn't have a spot, but has an assortment of favorite spots and she could care less of any of my things. She doesn't claw at things anymore, but she did as a baby tearing up a rug in an apartment I was living in. She doesn't chew on things, and if she's about to do something wrong I just say no! and she goes and does the right thing.
It's funny because I can talk to her and I know she understands me - like not being allowed to run out of the room if I don't want her to. So she's good.
Anyway, I just wanted to write about something that would make a few people smile. Ferrets are great pets.
Thanks for reading my little note, and I hope you enjoyed.
Any Relation to Matt Damon ?
Funny story few years back i found a ferret while walking down a woodland path, must have been someone’s pet, it came up to me so i picked it up wondering what was wrong and it bit me, so i dropped it on the floor and it landed on it's feet and ran off.
Ever since then i knew i was more of a Dog person lol.
haha. interesting - Damon might be the source of his name.
I have been bit by ferrets many times, and their bites aren't that bad, but I like dogs, cats, and all the others as well.
haha.. thanks for your comments, @tell-me-a-vision. :)
