Eco catastrophe in Kamchatka causes mass death of sea creatures

in DTube5 years ago

Thousands of dead marine animals washed ashore across #Russia's #Kamchatka region as a result of an increased concentration of petrochemicals and phenols from an unidentified source entering coastal waters. People have also been affected by the extreme levels of pollution in the water, with several surfers reporting to have experienced suspicious symptoms, including blurred vision, nausea, itchy throats, and general unwellness.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the pollution of Kamchatka's beaches. Some 250kg of samples, including water, sand, dead animals and shellfish, were delivered to Moscow for further examination.
