2.07- The night before
She took a drag on her cigarette and laid back on the couch. Watching the smoke rise against the grey yellow light of dawn, Nathalie Choo smirked. "What's wrong, Dimitri?" Turning slowly towards the naked man in her bed. -"What do you mean?"- He asked. -"This wasn't as good as usual. Something's wrong with you. What's wrong, Dimitri?"- He sat straight, trying to get his boxers back on. -"It's nothing about you, Natty." She deeply inhaled another drag. -"You know there can be no secrets between us. Go on. Tell me."- She rose and took a few steps towards the window, her perfect silhouette cropped against the early morning light.
Plans within plans, within plans. Dimitri Petrov was a ruthless, calculating bureaucrat on the top of his carreer and on the lookout for the top man job. Natty was as much his strength, for playing on his side, as she was his weakness, for seeing straight through him. The struggle to reach the top and the latent radiation had made his hair grow grey at a very early age, making him look much older than he really is and making it easier for other men to underestimate him. Dimitri stood in silence, eyes fixed on the elegant sinuosity of the shadow her hips produced against the grey satin curtains.
"The sanitizer disappeared,"- he said. -"Missing. He should have reported this afternoon. Niama novini. Nada. No news. No report. No trace of him on the chip locators. Nothing."- She turned to him. -"You shouldn't worry, Dimitri. It makes you look older." Putting the cigarrette out on the ashtray that sat in the black marble coffee table and walking around it in his direction. -"If something goes wrong with the sanitizer plan, there are the other options. So many redundancies..."- She mounted on top of him and caressed his gray hair with both hands. -"It's fail proof. You need to relax more." Looking deep into his eyes like she was searching for his soul, -"take me again, Dimitri," she demanded. And then, she kissed him.
