Retrotechtacular: The Floppy Disk Orphaned By Linux
Linus Torvalds decided that floppies should be placed in the trash bin, not in the kernel of the operating system.
The diskette driver is now orphaned, which means that there will be no active development or maintenance.
Czech developer Jiří Kosina, who was in charge of developing the driver, said that he no longer had any testing hardware in place.
