Waymo gets green light in California to pick up passengers in self-driving cars - The Verge

Waymo was issued a permit that allows it to put self driving taxis on the roads of California. This initial permit is limited to only Google employees and their guests. It is not open to the public at this time. Also, the authorization is only in areas that are assigned and well defined. The technology is not to the point where it can go into unknown areas.
