Teach your child to say 'NO'.

Everyone of us want our child to be nice and respectful to others. So we always camp them with such word like 'hey, be nice. Hey, do what your mentor wants you to do. Hey, be polite to others'. But as parents these alone are not healthy words to say to your child. He or she should be told to say NO if someone asks him to do something that makes him uncomfortable. We can't afford them to be nice on the cost of their safety or only if some elder is telling them to do something.
As a parent we keep telling our children that bad people look like devil or a movie villian. But that is not true infact. The good looking strangers can also be harmful to our children.
We should tell them that their private body parts belong to them and nobody is allowed to touch them, especially the parts of body covered by swimming suit. We should tell them the names of body parts so that they feel comfortable while talking about them. Teach them if there is any problem they should say NO, yell, run and ask for help from some trusted elder.
When out with our children we should tell them about some people that they can trust on and you trust on too. You can tell them by pointing on the mall manager that you know, or pointing to the homes of your relatives or family friends where they can ask for help in any emergency.
Do not ask your children open ended question like, how was your day? They are going to say, it was fine. Be specific about what you ask. This is how we can save our children from increasing child abuse
