Architectural Photography Challenge - Week 79 | "📷Capture, Click, Compete!📷" - House with animals
Hi everybody!
Today I want to show you photos of a unique house. I read that there are no other houses like this in our country. It is the only one of its kind. Look how unusually its facade is decorated:
Due to the large number of bas-reliefs of mythical creatures on the facade, the house received the nickname "House with Animals".
This five-story building was built in 1908-1909, and its decor was done by Sergei Vashkov, who was a student of the famous Russian artist Viktor Vasnetsov.
The house is decorated with dragons, lions with human faces, griffins, the Sirin bird and other fabulous animals. In his work, Sergey Vashkov was inspired by the paintings of Russian cathedrals of the 12th century, on the facades of which you can see similar mythical animals.
