The Boring Company is an infrastructure and tunnel construction company founded by Elon Musk in late 2016 due to difficulties with Los Angeles traffic and limitations with the current regular 2D transportation, and its goal is to fix congestion in any city no matter how large it grew just keep adding levels by increasing tunneling speed and dropping costs by a factor of 10 or more because of how expensive they are now ($1 billion per mile) to enable rapid transit across crowded regions.
The idea of creating the company come up when they were testing trench on the building of SpaceX’s offices, afterwards Musk announced that sometime in April of 2017 the company would start using a tunnel boring machine (TBM) to begin digging a usable tunnel at SpaceX. But the first route created will run from LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) to Culver City, then to Santa Monica, and end in Westwood, of course after he filed permitting application with Los Angeles government regulators. In parallel, he got a verbal government approval to build an underground Hyperloop connecting New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.
What freaks me out besides all this is the 50k sold out hat 20k already shipped and 30k waiting to ship by 23/02.Furthermore, he sold out all 20,000 Flamethrower with $500 for unit in just five days. Is not that insane, the sellout would represent roughly $10 million in sales of the device, which led me to eBay where I found that Musk's flamethrowers were listed for prices as high as $2,000 later.
