RE: Why are most religions not concerned about environmental action and how can we actively engage religious people in environmental protection?
Interesting question. I do not think religions can ever take ownership of nature protection. I do not know much about Islam, but at least Muslims do not eat bushmeat. Christianity is based on powerful men/women who could do anything. The power was given to them by even more powerful God who will always make everything better for humans. It basically means they do not need to do anything - so why conservation? That is how I see it. Not talking about church, that makes the change of course of religion towards conservation impossible. I have just one hope. If Pope Francis is not killed by the opposition he could lead the change. Unfortunately, I am very doubtful about his longlasting service. It would be great if all religions buy the idea we need the environment to survive not only God. Because if they do not do so, there is a very little chance to save the nature actually. That could be one of the ends of our civilization, too much believe in God.
