Being a leader has never felt good until I discovered who leaders are.

Hello fellow steemians. Hope we all are doing okay today. I'm excited to participate in this beautiful contest organised by @megareigns.

A leader is a person who oversees the workings of an organisation, as well as actively participate in the processes that lead to a given result. A leader is more than one who manages the affairs or an organisation.

A leader looks beyond the organisation to see that people make up that organisation and interacts with them on a more empathetic manner. Sometimes, we have a manager who is not a leader, but we often have a leader who is also a good manager.

This is to say that we often have either good or bad leaders who often run the affairs of people or an organisation.

A leader should lead in a way that allows those who are being led to feel heard and important. A good leader leads by example, and that example is shown in when he/she allows other people in an organisation to participate actively in making decisions for the organisation, or by practically showing them what to do.

This points us to two major things a leader needs to know and do:

Second, a good leader should lead by allowing the people to say how they feel about the organisation and how they can contribute to the growth of that organisation.

These are the major ways a good leader can lead to foster unity and inclusivity. With this, productivity is made easier, and not just a ritual that has to be performed, but an activity that can be enjoyed while learning and growing in the process.

As an emerging community that helps young persons to grow in full awareness of who they are in this world, I have been privileged to be in the leading team where most decisions and preparations are made to help these people grow.

Also, as a lover of God, I am the leader of a small number of people who study their Bible and get to discover more about God weekly.

Here, I plan with the members the passage we should study, sometimes a few verses, and we begin to share our understanding about that passage and pray over it. It helps us know the mind of God more and helps us learn from each other.

I can’t forget to mention that as a sergeant in the Girls’ Brigade Nigeria, I have the responsibility of cordinating the girls when the officers are absent. This is a responsibility that prepares me fir the real role of leadership, but I take this dearly, and I see it as a leadership role.

Some of the qualities of a good leader involves:

Empathy: A good leader is one is considerate and can put him/herself in the condition of his followers. This makes him understand his followers better.

Listening skill: A good leader is also very capable of listening even to the details of his followers.

Communication skills: A good leader should understand the power of communication, and how best he can communicate to his followers for them to understand him easily.

Technical skills: A good leader should be able to show to his followers what he is saying by being practical, up to the point of teaching them if need be.

With this, everyone needs to be a leader even in their little capacities to enable them to relate well with people.
