Today I will close this first round of publications dedicated to electronic music in Venezuela, talking about a guy who has played a very important role in that field. A person who had his beginnings as a guitarist and singer in a rock group, but thanks to a concert he attended by one of the greatest icons of electronic music such as Daft Punk, changed his destiny forever. We are talking about Andrés Astorga, better known as DJ Trujillo.

His beginnings in music were given almost by the hand of one of the most outstanding rockers of Venezuelan musical history, as was Cayayo Troconis, who "lent" him his first guitar so that he learned to play and later became the producer of the first album with the group "Dioslepague".

In 1997, Andrés had the opportunity to see a Daft Punk performance in France and he left so shocked that he went straight to buy a sampler and a keyboard. Upon his return to Venezuela he suggested to his groupmates to merge what they had been doing with electronic music and that is how it happened.

The first Album of remixes in this South American country came out of his hands.

After the disintegration of the group, Astorga promoted the birth of the collective "Los Andes Elctrónicos" (The Electronic Andes), a musical project integrated by DJs, graphic artists, designers, producers and more that included a whole aesthetic concept and that was equated with international standards.

With all that experience in his history, he decides to take the definitive step and become a soloist and that's how DJ Trujillo was born.

In his career he has been characterized by mixing all imaginable musical genres, from folklore to electronic music.

Andrés is a recognized Digger or "vinyl hunter" which is why he has also become a booster and promoter of projects that had fallen into oblivion. He was the one who made the contacts and worked in the selection and reedition of the repertoire of Daniel Grau, pioneer of electronic music in Venezuela, whom I spoke about in my post Daniel Grau's Disco in #danceweekend. He also plans to reissue musical material from other Venezuelan pioneers.

For several years, Andrés has taken up residence in the city of Berlin, where he arrived with a contract with a record label of that country and that city has become his center of operations.

Currently DJ Trujillo is one of the most recognized musicians and producers in Europe, with several EPs and solo albums that includes the following titles:

Hoy voy a cerrar esta primera ronda de publicaciones dedicados a la música electrónica en Venezuela, hablando sobre un personaje que ha jugado un papel importantísimo en ese campo. Una persona que tuvo sus inicios como guitarrista y cantante en un grupo de rock, pero que gracias a un concierto al que asistió de uno de los máximos íconos de la música electrónica como lo es Daft Punk, cambió para siempre su destino. Estamos hablando de Andrés Astorga, mejor conocido como DJ Trujillo.

Sus inicios en la música se dieron casi de la mano de uno de los más destacados rockeros de la historia musical venezolana, como lo fue Cayayo Troconis, quien le “prestó” su primera guitarra para que aprendiera a tocar y que posteriormente fuera el productor del primer disco con la agrupación “Dioslepague”.

En 1997 Andrés tuvo la oportunidad de ver en Francia una actuación de Daft Punk y salió tan impactado que salió directo a comprar un sampler y un teclado. A su regreso a Venezuela le sugirió a sus compañeros de grupo fusionar lo que venían haciendo con música electrónica y así sucedió.

El primer disco de remixes en este país suramericano salió de sus manos.

Luego de la desintegración del grupo, Astorga impulsó el nacimiento del colectivo “Los Andes Electrónicos”, un proyecto musical integrada por Djs, artistas gráficos, diseñadores, productores y más que que incluía toda un concepto estético y que se equiparaba con los estándares internacionales.

Con toda esa experiencia en su historial, decide dar el paso definitivo y convertirse en solista y de esa manera nace DJ Trujillo.

En su carrera se ha caracterizado por mezclar todos los géneros musicales imaginables, desde música folclórica hasta electrónica.

Andrés es un reconocido Digger o “cazador de vinilos” razón por la cual se ha convertido también en promotor e impulsor de proyectos que habían caído en el olvido. Él fue quien hizo los contactos y trabajó en la selección y reedición del repertorio de Daniel Grau, pionero de la música electrónica en Venezuela, de quien hablé en mi post Daniel Grau's Disco in #danceweekend. También tiene en proyecto la reedición de material musical de otros pioneros venezolanos.

Desde hace varios años Andrés fijó residencia en la ciudad de Berlín, donde llegó con un contrato con un sello disquero de ese país y esa ciudad se ha convertido en su centro de operaciones.

Actualmente DJ Trujillo es uno de los más reconocidos músicos y productores en Europa, con varios EPs y discos solistas que incluye los siguientes títulos:

Andrés ist ein anerkannter Digger oder "Vinyl-Jäger", weshalb er auch als Booster und Förderer bekam von Projekten die in Vergessenheit geraten sind. Er war derjenige, der die Kontakte geknüpft hat und in der Auswahl und Neuausgabe des Repertoires von Daniel Grau, dem Pionier der elektronischen Musik in Venezuela, gearbeitet hat, über den ich in meinem Post Daniel Grau's Disco in #danceweekend. Er plant auch, musikalisches Material von anderen venezolanischen Pionieren neu zu veröffentlichen.

Andrés hat seit mehreren Jahren seinen Wohnsitz in der Stadt Berlin, wo er mit einem Vertrag mit einem Plattenlabel dieses Landes angekommen ist und diese Stadt zu seinem Operationszentrum geworden ist.
