My first "job" as a moderator isn't positive. I didn't ask around if I can be one like many others but was asked for a new community. Ik denk dat er een idioot nodig was, een werkpaard en een spaarvarken.
I worked long and hard and it was a nightmare. Promise after promise was broken by the owners and for weeks there was no communication.

I moderated basically alone for weeks. The two other moderators left and the ADMs who should moderate as well were and still are mainly absent. Delegations are made undone. Still no word from the ADMs.
I change, is what I heard, we can build this together, next than being manipulated that if a community is not doing well MODs should not leave the sinking ship.
So moderators should stay and the owners/ADM can be absent even take the money and run?

If the only time an ADM shows up is if she applies for curator that should ring a bell.

Steemit can be a stressful place for those who play by the rules. I learned honesty isn't a high good and behind smiles is where greed and abuse hide.
So if you are a moderator don't let yourself be abused and don't work like a horse for what isn't yours.

It's not too long ago I announced I give up on building Student & Steem (the name is changed, one contest and net nothing). I've been threatened and heard more promises than anyone else. Again the I change, You see a new me, but new me's don't exist. We are who we are and if the will lacks all that remains is disappointment.

Is Steemit decentralized or centralized?
I hear you all say "centralized" and if that is the case why is it expected Steemit pays?

A moderator works in the first place for a community and communities and Here are communities rewarding themods very well.
Should the Steemit Team reward all those moderators? I wonder why. I don't see all those good ones you mention and from the moment I started I noticed a lot of content is not checked at all.
Is a moderator still needed to leave a report? If so can you explain why? There are plenty of communities functioning well without reports.

It would be an improvement if moderators would change into hosts, welcome and engage a bit. This rarely happens.

If the first thing you see after you post is a report with remarks or a negative remark from a moderator the post isn't welcome the job isn't done well.
Being a moderator is a free choice and I only meet people who are dying to be one too. The reason is Steem and fame. Many rarely pay the prizes of the contests they host and I also see Steemians who are moderators in name but never moderate or only once per month. This makes me wonder.
It must look good on some report to say you are a moderator of 3 or 6 communities and it benefits enough people to make others want this very badly. 🤔

Again I ask if it is still necessary to leave a moderator report and why does the Steemit Team need to pay moderators. This besides the fact that they already do that when the community has booming upvotes.

How many moderators would stay if they don't receive a booming upvote and have to host and pay for a contest they host? I doubt many will same for the curators. What if they all have to follow a training of 6 weeks and do not receive an upvote and no 100% upvoting?
Would everyone still line up?

Keep in mind we join a decentralized platform, meaning freedom and suit yourself like @stef1 also once remarked.

This is social media, not a paid job, you are on no one's payroll although a moderator could be on a community's.

I worked hard for knack4buzz while everyone left, the ADMs included.
Is it my job as the only MOD to grow someone else's community? To bring up good ideas, to promote while I am treated like the unpaid fool paying the bills? I don't think so.
If it comes to the reports, every community checks something else and AI text is rarely checked unless there's a suspicion it's used.
Do SCs check what moderators should check? I doubt it. A few maybe, but we all know they don't and they don't read the mod reports either.

I noticed that your community uses a very short report (changed a few weeks ago?) and that more communities do.
If it is too much, too demanding, gives headaches, it is better to stop reviewing mods and that is what I and others before me did.
I am here for myself because I enjoy writing, not to be someone's slave and get scolded on Mondays when no one shows up.

Perhaps a course moderating is a good idea?
