🗞 Cboe Resubmits the VanEck/SolidX Bitcoin ETF Proposal for SEC Approval

The race is back on to launch the first U.S. bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), after Cboe resubmitted its joint proposal with VanEck and SolidX.

Announced Thursday by VanEck digital asset strategy lead Gabor Gurbacs, the Jan. 30 filing would, if approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), allow the Cboe BZX Exchange to list shares of a bitcoin ETF trust. Many proponents of a bitcoin ETF believe that the fund will help bring fresh money into the space, creating a more liquid market.

The proposal was withdrawn from consideration earlier this month due to the U.S. government shutdown. At the time, VanEck CEO Jan van Eck explained that the companies filing the rule change proposal had been in talks with the SEC, but these talks ended when the shutdown began. To avoid a probable rejection due to the closure, the proposal was withdrawn.

🗞 Crypto Startups Push Swiss VC Investments to a Record $1.25B

Startups based in Switzerland have attracted a record amount of venture capital in 2018 and companies from the cryptocurrency industry have contributed to the notable increase. Zug, which is home to the country’s Crypto Valley, is among the cantons with the highest growth in investment volume, a new report reveals.

🗞 South Korea Will Maintain ICO Ban After Finding Token Projects Broke Rules

South Korea’s top financial regulator has said it will not lift the ban on domestic initial coin offerings (ICOs) after finding that some projects have been violating rules.

As ICO investment is a “high risk” activity, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) said, calling on the public to exercise caution when investing in token projects, according to a report from CoinDesk Korea.

The FSC decision was informed by the results of a survey conducted by the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), indicating that some ICOs purportedly conducted abroad had also illegally raised money from Korean investors.

🗞 Binance Users Can Now Pay for Crypto With Credit Cards

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by adjusted trading volume, has just made it easier for users to buy cryptocurrencies.

The exchange announced Thursday that it has partnered with Israel-based payments processing firm Simplex to enable purchases with Visa and MasterCard credit cards.

At launch, the exchange is supporting credit card purchase for bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), litecoin (LTC) and XRP. These can then be traded against up to 151 other tokens offered by the exchange.

🗞 6 Philanthropic Projects That Accept Cryptocurrency

Much of the growing interest in bitcoin and other digital currencies has been focused on individual financial gain and buying lambos. For those who would rather utilize their digital assets to effect positive change in the world, however, there is also the ability to donate to charity using crypto. The following philanthropic projects all accept cryptocurrency donations.

Recent high profile charitable cause have been introduced by the likes of Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, who launched Givecrypto.org, which distribute funds to those who live in poverty. Armstrong has said he’s always believed in the power of cryptocurrency-funded philanthropy and his new nonprofit is all about empowering, educating, and elevating global communities.

STEEM Trading Update by my friend @cryptopassion

Here is the chart of yesterday :

Here is the current chart :

Like on the BTC, we almost touched also the resistance line in orange and we had a sudden drop just after. This was the scenario that I was predicting yesterday, so no surprise with that. We must now see if the drop will become powerfull and continues to go test the support line around 0.23$ or if we will try again to break the resistance line and succeed to break it.

Awesome updates regarding the CBOE etf. I love that they keep pushing for this. CBEO is super legit too... They manage the VIX index. I think the fact that they keep trying over and over + they have a professional reputation... means that they will eventually succeed and we will get a bitcoin ETF. I think that will be a HUGE step. Well then likely have options trading on BTC.

I could not agree more. They will succeed at one point. Which should bring awareness, options and more « experts » on this new asset class.
Thank you 🙏 for your upvotes. Have a great weekend.
