We continue our journey.

Frumushyka is not only open-air museum of Bessarabian huts, and the world's largest monument of shepherd of sheep. They are probably not even the greatest attractions of Frumushyka.

Museum The history of the Bessarabian land

Next to the Czaban monument, there is an outdoor museum "History of the Bessarabian Land". In 2014, this place won the title of "The largest private park-museum in terms of the number of sculptures in Ukraine". It presents characters associated with Bessarabian mythology, legends and traditions. The museum is surrounded by steppe grass, from which stone sculptures emerge, it blends well with the surroundings, and provides a pleasant atmosphere.

Local mythology has been enriched by influence of Ancient Greece and Rome, and more recently by Ottoman Empire, Russian Empire, and Republic of Poland, so you can meet here a lot of beliefs.

Museum of the Social Realism Monuments

In Frumushyka is a lot to see, but the Museum of the Social Realism Monuments is the most famous. In the grove near Chaban monument, there are statues of the leaders of the communist era. We can meet: Lenin, Lenin with another Lenin, Lenin speaking to other Lenins, Lenin who lost his head, and Lenin who fell on the snout. And did I already say that you can meet Lenin there?

In addition to the leader of the revolution, we can also meet other communist dignitaries: Stalin, Dzerzhinsky, Kirov, etc. ... Monuments of young Pioneers (communist scouting), Soviet soldiers, and even a monument to communists from Africa. And of course I would forget - there is also Lenin ;]

The museum, was not created as a tribute to communism, of course, but as a warning reminder of the realities of those times. At the beginning, the monuments were bought by the owner ("700 hryvnia per meter"). After "Leninfall", people began to bring in monuments they wanted to get rid of.

For relaxation, in order not to be overwhelmed by the excess of socialist realism and the Lenins, there are also amusing sculptures of animals forming the "Stone Zoo".

If someone prefers a more active rest, you can play miniature golf under the supervision of Lenins.

My feelings

Coming to Frumuszyka I knew only about the Museum of Socialist Realism and the Cabana monument. That's why I was positively surprised by the greatness of this place.

Although there is seemingly a jumble of everything, it all fits in a strange way. Minigolf under Lenin's watch? - absurd, but you do not feel it there. Over 16 meter monument in the middle of nothing? It is also pointless, but where else could a steppe shepherd's monument stand? Also irrational on this steppe was the charging station for electric cars, or the pool from which you could admire the beautiful sunset. All this cooperating in some strange harmony, is it the whole space and the steppe to the horizon, makes everything find enough space?

I really liked the openness of these museums. All the exhibits simply were, stood among the steppe grass and did not claim any higher rights. No artistic snobbery: you like it - it's nice, you don't like it - also it's nice, nobody care about this. Same monuments scattered here and there was so much that within two days I could not see all.

In my travels I like unconventional places, which are not yet contaminated by mass tourism. Those that are original and the atmosphere just feels. Places that try to "sell" yourself for tourists as they are, not be prepare only for sell. A place that is quite absurd and unreal in its own way, yet it exists thanks to one man who consistently and perseveringly pursued his goals. Does it make sense? I do not know - but I liked it there.
