CONTEST: SCRIBBLING (LESSON 8 - AN ORANGE).
Great Day Steemians, Art Lovers, and Friends,
I had taken my time to evaluate all the lessons so far, and I could effortlessly say without doubt that people are scared or find drawing parts of the human body quite stressful or maybe even more difficult but now, I've decided to talk us back to the objects and subjects that could easily be broken down into basic shapes such as: circle, sphere, triangle, rectangle and many more.....
Let's have some fun with scribbles!

THE LESSON!
My mission with this very lesson is to bring us all back to the very beginning and to make it easier for us all to understand and to enjoy not just the finished drawing but every single process that leads to the final success of the drawing.

The first thing you should always do is to observe your subject or object and understand the basic shape that is very relevant to it, in this case, some could use circle and some could use sphere, sketch our your shapes like I did, you could see in the picture above that I even sketched out the shapes of the leaves too from the onset, that's how it's done! 😎

You should also sketch a base for your object so it doesn't look like your object is floating, after that you can start shading your Orange, begin with your middle tones, use it to cover ever part of the object except the highlights (the areas where the sunlight or the artificial light is so heavy on).

Now you can shade other external parts of your object, in this case, it's the leaves, I shaded them while I also left the areas with strong highlights without shading at all. Then, you should also shade out the shadow of your object and the base, the would give the drawing more life, more sense of balance and it's going to be very attractive. The bottom of the Orange towards the shadow is where your darkest value would be so you are expected to shade that area with a very dark, I mean your darkest tone. 😎

This is the final stage where you shade your background against your object in order to make the object appear closer and the background farther.
Follow these steps and instructions and you would have a very fascinating drawing of an Orange. 🥰
I hope you have the lessons more effective this way?
THE CONTEST!
Get a picture of a Orange with at least one leaf on its head and make a scribble drawing out of it using the instructions and guidelines shared above. I'm sure you all would create beautiful and gallery worthy drawings this time!🤩

Seeing this, I must say, you had me clapping. This is really impressive, I enjoy almost everything about it but then, I understand that you drew an orange that is still on the tree but I feel you should have allowed the branch of the tree to be longer to the point that the end of it doesn't show at all in your picture.
Just like what I did in the drawing above, do you understand me now? Notwithstanding, you've done fantastically well! 👏🏾
Yes, I understand. I will take that into consideration next time. Thanks for the appreciation!
You're very much welcome.

Thank you for guiding us.

You're very much welcome Jiva.
This is absolutely stunning! 🔥
This is what I call simple and classy, I must say that you've eventually grown into a more confident artist as far as scribbling is concerned. Although the way your treated your background didn't give us the impression that it is totally separated from the base/table on which the Orange is...
If you take a good look as mine here, you could tell that I intentionally separated the base/table from the rest of the background. Aside from that I would say you did so well, and moving on next time, do not create space between the bottom of your object (orange in this case) and the shadow of the object, always join them together in an artistic way, you can see how I did mine. Great Job Jiva 😍👏🏾
I see what you mean by the shadow not being separated from the object. And more definition needed in the background.
Yes. I shall be waiting to see how you'll deal with that in your next drawing.
Thank you for the encouragement. I surprise myself.... :>)
You're most welcome.
I'm sure, you'll only keep getting better. 🤗
I can hardly wait.

I like the fact we partly see it on the top. I love that broken piece of branch with the leaves. It attracts the attention who need a background or table 😍
Swamped with oranges here. Oranges and grapefruits... Can't give them away fast enough. I offered free but no one was all that interested. Free? Must be something wrong with them... So I said 5/$1 and it was a mob scene. Ha Ha.
Unbelievable, farmers did it here to make a statement and long rows people drove to the North to fill their trunk with potatoes 🤣 , but hey, it's good for you.
Coretan yang bagus, terlihat dan sesuai yang diinginkan dalam kontes ini.

I have a very drawing, I love the fact that you started the drawing by first drawing out the shapes which is the best way to go but then, the only issue here is your shading, you need to map out the areas where you shouldn't shade at all, you can't have the whole of your orange shaded out.
At a look at this stage of my drawing, I was done with the drawing already at this stage and you could see that I still have some parts of the orange that I didn't cover up with shading because that is where the light falls on on the orange and I just have to leave it blank like that in order to achieve a very fine and interesting contrast in my drawing.
Ia juga, setelah saya baca petunjuknya, saya pun lupa bagian itu, karena asyik dengan melakukan ciret-coretnya. Semoga nanti untuk kedepan, saya akan lebih teliti lagi dan memahaminya.
No problem, I would love to see the improvement going forward. Thank you for giving it your best shot! 🤗
Look how much improvement! I like your leaves on the second photo. If you make your scratching smaller - little strokes or circles at the same spot it will look darker.
Do you scribble with your child now?
🍀♥️
Semoga nanti kedepan ada kemajuannya, ini saya coret sendiri saat say berada di sekolah.
Kalau anak saya melihat, disaat saya mencoret, dia akan berkata "kenapa tidak menggambar, kenapa harus dicoret-coret"
🤣 tell him it's art and show what @tezzmax does and you intend to beat him so your son can help scratching and you both get rich and fanous artists!
@wakeupkitty 🤣🤣🤣..... You cracked me up on this one 😂. @bahrol please don't mind Kitty 😂, I think you could check out some drawing tutorials for kids on YouTube and I'm sure you'll find a couple of them that would be useful to your son. 😊
Oh come on, I bet my
hatbeanie if that boy can scribble like you he will be rich! Own YouTube channel, own art school?!Well, he could own a YouTube channel with tons of subscribers but definitely not an art school yet. 🤣

I hope so, I've really missed your wonderful entries back in the day and to see them coming in again would mean a lot to me. I can't wait, bring it on friend! 😎
I’d love to give it another attempt, but it uses too much ink… I suppose this will have to do.

A migraine? You make the sketch and your team can finish it. How about that?
Thanks but not for me. I have absolutely no aptitude in these kind of thing. Whenever I need one, Jazz does it for me 😁
I can post about art but not my art. I can recognize something artistic and comment about it. But that doesn't make me an artist, really. That's why I stick to PhotoChain. It brings out whatever creative genes I have without having to draw, paint, sketch or scribble anything. Do you know I can't even get my signature to match the one I have in my ID Card, resulting sometimes in embarrassing authentification problems, especially with bank transactions? My hand and eye coordination seems to have deteriorated through the years. Add arthritis to the mix as well 😅 So it's still "No thanks, but thanks for the invite."

Did you find a reference or you used my drawing as your reference? You really gave this drawing all and I am so impressed, I could see myself ticking all the boxes, the contrast is well controlled, shadow is also well rendered and the background is also treated finely. Good Job Henry.

Hi everyone.
My post.
I'm still not satisfied, I can see the light and dark areas on the model, but I can't represent it in the drawing. Is it a matter of how much pressure I apply or is it the intricacy of the stroke?
The model
LINK
I don't think it has anything to do with more pressure. I am not quite sure what I see but it feels it's reflection of the window. Why not only focus on the shadow and the light fall and the rest is scratching/filling the ball/fruit (is this an oragne or?).

Thank you for the explanation Kitty.
First thing first, I think your choice of reference is quite uninteresting, it's never about the pressure whenever you're drawing with pen cause if you apply too much pressure, you would only force the pen to pour out too much ink but with ability of creating layers upon layers of strokes on each other would help you to achieve more darker values.
I understand.
Low pressure and work in layers.
Exactly!
